Even after the dissolution of the Shichibukai, these characters play pivotal roles in the overarching narrative, each driven by their distinctive ambitions and desires.
1. Dracule Mihawk
Objectives: Seek Strong Opponents / Enhance Cross Guild

Regarded as the strongest swordsman in the world, Dracule Mihawk’s aspirations extend beyond mere victories. Having previously confronted powerful adversaries, Mihawk now seeks a worthy opponent capable of challenging him. His disdain for the Marines was accentuated by past confrontations, particularly during the Summit War.
After training the aspiring swordsman Roronoa Zoro, Mihawk shifted his focus to Cross Guild, a mercenary collective targeting Marines. His involvement suggests a dual motive: a vendetta against his historical foes and a desire to encounter progressively stronger opponents.
2. Crocodile
Goals: Empower Cross Guild

Once a schemer for the throne of Alabasta and a formidable Shichibukai, Crocodile’s ambitions shifted following his imprisonment and subsequent alliance with Luffy. Now part of Cross Guild, he aims to target the Marines while fostering a reputation of power through deception.
Through manipulation, Crocodile has allowed Buggy to take the brunt of public perception while he orchestrates greater plans for revenge against the World Government.
3. Gecko Moria
Ambitions: Avenge Kaido & Blackbeard

Having lost his entire crew to Kaido, Gecko Moria harbors deep resentment towards those responsible for his downfall. Despite past failures leading to his exit from the Shichibukai, Moria seeks retribution against both Kaido and Blackbeard after painful losses. However, his current weakness may hinder any immediate attempts for revenge.
4. Bartholomew Kuma
Mission: Protect Bonney

Bartholomew Kuma, a tragic figure from the Buccaneer race, has a profound bond with his daughter, Bonney. His transition from revolutionist to Shichibukai was a calculated move to safeguard Bonney after a devastating past. Following his brief enslavement, Kuma has devoted himself to her protection, which has shaped his actions during recent conflicts.
5. Boa Hancock
Goals: Protect Amazon Lily / Win Luffy’s Affection
- Affiliation: Formerly Kuja Pirates and Shichibukai
As a ruler of Amazon Lily, Boa Hancock’s fierce loyalty to her island and its people contrasts with her past as a slave. Her unexpected love for Luffy has led her to oppose the government, and despite the dissolution of the Shichibukai, her affection for Luffy drives her ambitions, unveiling a complex character torn between duty and love.
6. Jimbei
Objective: Bridge Fish-Man and Human Relations / Support Luffy
- Affiliation: Straw Hat Pirates, Formerly Sun Pirates and Shichibukai
Jimbei, a staunch advocate for peace between fish-men and humans, has positioned himself as a protector of Fish-Man Island. His journey takes a pivotal turn when he joins Luffy’s crew, carrying the weight of his past while actively fighting for both his people and Luffy’s dream of becoming Pirate King.
7. Donquixote Doflamingo
Aims: Strip World Nobles of Their Authority
- Affiliation: Formerly Donquixote Pirates and Shichibukai
Once a World Noble, Doflamingo’s life took a dramatic turn following his father’s decisions. This instilled in him a desire to wield power and inflict suffering on the likes of the World Nobles. After his fall from grace and subsequent imprisonment, Doflamingo’s ambitions remain unchanged, as he waits for an opportunity to retaliate against those who wronged him.
8. Marshall D. Teach
Ambitions: Acquire Limitless Power
- Affiliation: Blackbeard Pirates, Formerly Whitebeard Pirates and Shichibukai
Marshall D. Teach, commonly known as Blackbeard, has transformed from a mere pirate into a notorious power player. His acquisition of multiple Devil Fruits and his relentless ambition indicate a desire not only to dominate the seas but also to construct a “pirate nation, ”a fresh ambition that may reflect deeper aspirations rooted in the history of the Void Century.
9. Buggy
Goal: Claim the Title of Pirate King

Buggy, a former member of the Roger Pirates, has crafted a unique persona within the pirate community through a mix of cunning and charisma. Despite his lack of strength, his ambition to claim the title of Pirate King sets him on an unpredictable path, especially after inadvertently becoming a figurehead for Cross Guild, reflecting his knack for survival and manipulation.
10. Trafalgar D. Water Law
Ambition: Vanquish the Blackbeard Pirates
- Affiliation: Hearts Pirates, Formerly Shichibukai
Trafalgar D. Water Law’s tragic backstory fuels his quest for vengeance against Doflamingo and the Blackbeard Pirates. After briefly assuming Shichibukai status, Law seeks to form alliances capable of standing against his enemies while navigating treacherous waters filled with deceit and rival interests.
11. Edward Weevil
Goals: Obey His Mother / Achieve Freedom
- Affiliation: Formerly Shichibukai
Edward Weevil, purportedly the son of Whitebeard, strives to uphold his legacy while navigating his misguided ambitions—largely influenced by his mother, Miss Buckingham Stussy. As he wrestles with concepts of paternal legacy and personal identity, his journey illustrates the struggle between misconception and reality.
