In the world of One Piece, God’s Knights stand as the elite protectors of Mary Geoise, wielding authority even over World Nobles. However, their influence is still overshadowed by the Five Elders. Remarkably, this enigmatic group made their debut long after the series reached over 1000 episodes and chapters, hinting at their mysterious nature and the closed-off environment of Mary Geoise, a setting relegated away from the primary non-royal characters of the narrative. As the series approaches its Final Saga, fans are gradually uncovering more details about these elusive guardians. This article aims to present a comprehensive overview of what has been revealed about God’s Knights so far.
5. They Are (or Were) Commanded by Figarland Garling
The Newest Elder Is First Identified As Their Supreme Commander

Figarland Garling recently joined the ranks of the Five Elders, stepping in as the new Warrior God of Science and Defense after the execution of Jaygarcia Saturn. His involvement with God’s Knights dates back several years and was well established by the time of the infamous God Valley Incident, which took place 38 years prior to the current events in the series. Disturbingly, Garling was highlighted as a “champion”at God Valley, participating in a grotesque spectacle known as the Native Hunting Competition, where local inhabitants were hunted for sport. His reckless confidence led him to incur a significant penalty, losing 10, 000 points due to an early kill.
In the present storyline, Garling is depicted eliminating Saint Donquixote Mjosgard, a World Noble, for undermining the kidnapping of Shirahoshi, princess of the Ryugu Kingdom, and thwarting an assault by pirates stemming from the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. This pivotal scene stands out, showcasing that even World Nobles can face consequences for their actions. As Garling continues to fulfill his responsibilities within the Five Elders, his involvement with God’s Knights remains ambiguous.
4. They Are Related to Shanks
At Least Two Relatives Are Members

The Figarland family first garnered attention in the non-canon One Piece Film: Red, with speculation suggesting that Uta, the film’s antagonist, may be linked to this family. However, this idea crumbles since Uta is actually adopted and her real lineage remains a mystery. It is believed that her adoptive father, Shanks, holds Figarland lineage. Shanks, known for his association with the Red-Haired Pirates, was discovered by the Roger Pirates as a baby in a treasure chest at God Valley.
Recent developments reveal that Figarland Shamrock explicitly addresses Shanks as his “younger twin brother.”Initially presented as a shadowy figure engaging with the Five Elders, Shamrock expressed a desire to confer about “a certain pirate.”Early signs indicated that viewers were to assume Shamrock could be Shanks, especially as they share voice actors in their respective dubs. This narrative choice was likely designed to mislead audiences about Shamrock’s true identity.
The possibility of Shanks having an identical twin was further bolstered by Shamrock’s striking resemblance to him, including shared physical traits like eye color and hair style, while Shamrock bears no facial scars. As a known Emperor within the pirate world, Shanks appears to have a strained relationship with his family. Shamrock suggested he previously returned to Mary Geoise, but ultimately chose the life of a pirate over aristocracy.
3. Outsiders Are Allowed to Join
Apparently Non-Nobles Can Join Too

In a compelling development, Shamrock and fellow God’s Knights member Gunko were observed trying (albeit unsuccessfully) to coerce Loki into joining their ranks. Their aggressive tactics indicate that individuals do not necessarily have to belong to the noble class to become a member of God’s Knights. Given that many World Nobles tend to be characterized as inept and requiring constant security, it makes sense for the protective organization to seek recruits from outside the aristocracy.
The criteria and privileges associated with joining as an outsider remain unclear. Despite being royalty, Loki is depicted as a commoner offered “divinity, ”suggesting some advantages come with membership. His potential acceptance may be influenced by his remarkable strength and the ongoing discord with other giants in Elbaf.
York, a Satellite currently serving under Garling, achieved her status through betrayal of her creator, Dr. Vegapunk, revealing sensitive information to secure her position. This pattern hints that a similar demonstration of worthiness may be expected from those aspiring to be a part of God’s Knights. Gunko’s notably aggressive demeanor further implies a non-noble background, although that remains speculative.
2. They Want to Control the Giants of Elbaf
And They’ll Take Their Children To Do It!

Elbaf, famed for its warrior giants, has a rich history that is increasingly challenged by new reforms initiated by King Harald, who sought to distance the giants from their warlike traditions. This shift is marked by Harald’s extreme measure of removing his own horns, a powerful symbol of his giant ancestry and heritage.
Recently, Gunko and Shamrock discussed strategies to bring Elbaf’s giants under the World Government’s control, especially following Loki’s rebuff. Historically, giant orphans have been integrated into the World Government through trafficking efforts established by figures like Mother Carmel. Vice Admiral John Giant, the first giant Marine, was also an orphan from Elbaf. The existence of the Giant Squad within the Marines underscores this connection, although their precise origins remain ambiguous.
What exactly the giants of Elbaf contribute to the greater military machine remains uncertain, though their fierce reputation offers compelling prospects for control. There have even been suggestions that the children of these giants could be leveraged as a means to secure dominance over their kind, indicating a potential nefarious strategy at play.
1. They Will Fight The Revolutionary Army
A Conflict Between The Two Groups Has Been Teased

The Revolutionary Army, an anti-establishment faction led by Monkey D. Dragon, actively challenges the authority of World Nobles and, by extension, the World Government, due to the profound inequalities they perpetuate. Recent events saw Sabo and several commanders infiltrate Mary Geoise to liberate Bartholomew Kuma, leading to acts of defiance against the elite. However, a direct confrontation with God’s Knights has yet to transpire.
Dragon harbors no illusions about the consequences of their actions, predicting that God’s Knights will be dispatched to retaliate against the Revolutionary Army for their recent aggression. While the full extent of God’s Knights’ strength remains shrouded in mystery, indications reveal there may be a minimum of nine members, and they are often regarded as formidable adversaries. A climactic encounter with the Revolutionary Army may soon reveal their true capabilities.
