ONE-NETBOOK Unveils World’s First Thunderbolt 5 RX 7600M XT External GPU

The introduction of the ONEXGPU external GPU marks a significant advancement for ONE-NETBOOK, as it incorporates the groundbreaking Thunderbolt 5 interface. This interface is set to offer enhanced bandwidth capabilities, promising a performance upgrade over Thunderbolt 4 solutions currently on the market.

ONEXGPU: Enhanced Performance with RX 7600M XT and Thunderbolt 5

Chinese hardware producer ONE-NETBOOK is gearing up to launch its inaugural Thunderbolt 5-based external GPU, the ONEXGPU. This new development adds to the sparse collection of Thunderbolt 5 eGPUs, alongside few existing models like the 2025 ROG XG Mobile. As the industry recognizes the necessity of higher bandwidth, we can expect an uptick in Thunderbolt 5 compatible devices in the near future.

The ONEXGPU features the RDNA 3.0 architecture with the Radeon RX 7600M XT, and it is touted as the first portable eGPU compact enough to fit in your pocket. While the previous version utilized OCulink, providing a respectable bandwidth of 64 Gbps, the new iteration elevates this with Thunderbolt 5, achieving a remarkable 80 Gbps. This 16 Gbps increase in bandwidth is expected to result in noticeably improved performance, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

Though detailed specifications are still under wraps, early images of the ONEXGPU suggest a departure from the design of its predecessor. The new model appears bulkier which may indicate advancements in cooling and thermal management. Additionally, its front features a striking array of LED lights, enhancing visual appeal. Specific technical details remain limited, but the key upgrade is the transition from the OCulink port to Thunderbolt 5.

Assuming that ONE-NETBOOK maintains or improves the specifications from the original ONEXGPU, we can anticipate the inclusion of a PCIe 4.0 or even PCIe 5.0 slot for M.2 SSDs. The original ONEXGPU was equipped with the older PCIe 3.0 interface; therefore, the shift to a more advanced version would align with trends in the industry. Additionally, the new ONEXGPU is expected to feature multiple USB Type A and Type C ports, mirroring its predecessor, along with a power delivery port for rapid charging of connected devices.

As of now, ONE-NETBOOK has yet to officially unveil the latest ONEXGPU, but more comprehensive information is expected soon.
