OKC Thunder vs Philadelphia 76ers Game Player Stats and Box Scores for April 2, 2024

Prior to Tuesday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and OKC Thunder, the most significant development was the return of Joel Embiid. Dubbed “The Process,”Embiid was given the green light to play just hours before the matchup after sitting out the previous 29 games for the 76ers.

Despite missing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander due to a persistent quad injury, Oklahoma will still attempt to secure a victory on the road. The team will have to do so without their top player, as “SGA”has sat out three of the Thunder’s last four games.

Despite Tyrese Maxey’s absence, Philadelphia managed to take a 25-22 lead in the first 12 minutes with strong performances from Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris. However, the 76ers’ offense experienced some stagnation at times, with Cam Payne filling in for Maxey. Improvement was needed from Payne in his role.

The second period witnessed a dominant performance from OKC, with their defense causing problems for Philadelphia. The visitors’ bench provided support for the offense, leading to a 54-44 lead at halftime as both teams headed to the locker rooms.

The third quarter was a competitive period, with the Philadelphia 76ers narrowly defeating the OKC Thunder 29-26. However, OKC maintained their lead with a score of 80-73 by the end of the quarter.

The significance of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the OKC Thunder was clearly demonstrated in the final quarter. The absence of Jalen Williams also greatly impacted Oklahoma’s offense, causing them to struggle in the decisive period. Despite Josh Giddey’s impressive playmaking abilities, his lack of outside accuracy allowed the Philadelphia 76ers to challenge him to shoot.

Kelly Oubre Jr., Tobias Harris, and Joel Embiid were crucial in leading the home team to victory in the final moments. Embiid, known as “The Process,”was especially effective in preventing OKC’s players from driving to the paint. Meanwhile, the reigning MVP took control on the offensive end.

Despite not playing in Philadelphia’s previous 29 games, Joel Embiid’s shotmaking and clutch free throws proved crucial in the 76ers’ hard-fought 109-105 victory. His performance on Tuesday night only adds to his legendary status, as the Sixers would likely have suffered another loss without his presence making an impact on the court.
