During a recent livestream, DJ Akademiks was visibly emotional, collapsing to the floor upon hearing about rapper Lil Durk’s arrest. He shared the news with his audience, revealing Durk’s mugshot on screen while laughing. At one point, he even rolled on the ground, merging humor with disbelief regarding the situation.
“He’s in Florida! I documented the entire thing on my stream! Oh my gosh, man! I pulled it up myself! He’s behind bars! (…) I was really hoping this was just some elaborate joke!”he exclaimed.
On October 24, reports indicated that Lil Durk was arrested on charges related to murder-for-hire and is currently being held without bond in Broward County Jail. He is awaiting transfer to U.S. Marshals, but no additional information about the circumstances of his arrest has surfaced.
This incident occurred shortly after five associates from his OTF (Only The Family) label were similarly taken into custody on murder-for-hire related charges connected to the 2022 homicide of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, in Los Angeles.
Five associates of Lil Durk’s OTF label arrested in connection with 2022 murder
Just hours ahead of Lil Durk’s arrest on October 24, federal agents apprehended five members of his Chicago-based record label, OTF. The individuals arrested include Asa Houston, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, and Kavon London Grant.
These men are facing serious charges related to the murder of Quando Rondo’s cousin Saviay’a Robinson, which took place in Los Angeles in 2022. According to reports from the Chicago Tribune, the indictment asserts that flight and rental expenses for the five were charged to a credit card associated with the label.
Additionally, prosecutors allege that an unnamed OTF member offered lucrative music deals to anyone willing to kill Quando Rondo.
All five individuals linked to Lil Durk’s label are now facing multiple serious charges, including “murder-for-hire resulting in death, gun-related violent crime causing death, and conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire.”Reports noted that Lil Durk was initially taken into custody by federal agents in connection with the investigation, but he wasn’t named as a defendant until later.
The five men apprehended in relation to Robinson’s murder are said to be tied to the events surrounding the shooting incident that occurred on August 19, 2022, in Los Angeles. At that time, Quando Rondo and his companions came under gunfire while in their vehicle at a gas station in the Beverly Grove area. Rondo, his sister, and cousin Saviay’a Robinson were all present during the attack.
While Rondo and his sister managed to evade serious injury, Robinson was struck multiple times and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Authorities suspect that Robinson’s murder was a retaliatory act for the death of Lil Durk’s associate, King Von, in 2020, who was shot outside an Atlanta hookah bar in November of that year by one of Rondo’s associates.
On October 24, the five accused members appeared before the Dirksen U.S. Courthouse, and it was announced that proceedings would be transferred to Los Angeles. Currently, U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert has ordered that the individuals remain in custody as federal investigations into the OTF label’s possible involvement in the crime continue.
In a related development, Lasheena Weekly, the mother of Chicago drill rapper FBG Duck, reportedly filed a complaint with federal authorities in October 2024, alleging involvement by Durk, King Von, and OTF affiliates in her son’s death. Duck was killed in 2020.
