Official Minimum Drop Rates for Apex Legends Revealed

Apex Legends has recently unveiled an update concerning the minimum drop rates in the game. This announcement followed the introduction of new regulations in South Korea, prompting EA to provide a comprehensive breakdown of these rates. This decision aims to ensure that players around the globe remain well-informed about their in-game purchases. The disclosed information included the drop rates for Heirloom Shards as well as various Rarity Items.

This article explores the newly introduced minimum drop rates and how certain elements of these rates are now operational.

Disclosure of Apex Legends’ Minimum Drop Rates Following Korean Regulations

On October 8, 2024, the official Apex Legends X page announced that the updated regulations in Korea necessitated a detailed disclosure of the game’s minimum drop rates.

Consequently, Respawn Entertainment shared the precise drop rate probabilities for various items while outlining the categories they fall into in the FAQ section on the official Apex Legends website. It’s important to note that the current rates remain unchanged.

Key points from the announcement include:

  • Rarity Drop Rates: There were no alterations made to rarity drop rates, but the game will now offer enhanced transparency regarding the drop rates of cosmetic items.
  • Duplicate Protection: The disclosed drop rates represent the lowest possible figures for a player lacking any Apex Legends cosmetics. Furthermore, the drop rates for active players will be elevated beyond the stated values based on the items they already possess, as duplicate items cannot be awarded.
  • Heirloom Shards: Players are guaranteed to receive Heirloom Shards if they fail to obtain them after opening 500 Apex Packs.

Respawn provided the probabilities for obtaining items across various categories, revealing their likelihood up to three decimal places, including that of Heirloom Shards.

Heirloom Shards Drop Rate: Surprisingly Low Figures

Heirloom Shards rank among the game’s rarest items, with their previous drop rate estimated at below 1%. However, due to regulatory requirements in Korea, a new probability has been disclosed.

The updated chance of acquiring Heirloom Shards is now established at 0.045%. This very low drop rate suggests that the majority of players will likely not encounter this item throughout their Apex Legends experience. Nevertheless, Respawn has introduced a new system that guarantees players will receive Heirloom Shards if they have not found any after opening 500 Apex Packs.

This adjustment enhances the likelihood of eventually obtaining these shards and unlocking Mythic items within the game. Players should prepare to strive for these rewards as they approach Apex Legends Season 23.
