Official Launch of ROG Xbox Ally Set for October

Update as of August 20, 2025: In a recent update, tech enthusiast Wario64 on X (formerly Twitter) reported that Best Buy has revealed the pricing details for the highly anticipated ROG Xbox Ally and the Xbox Ally X. This confirmation aligns with the leak shared by industry insider Billbil-kun. While pre-orders are not yet available, they are expected to launch imminently as hinted by Billbil-kun’s announcement earlier today.

Official Launch Date and Pricing Details

During the first day of livestreaming at Gamescom 2025, Xbox officially announced the release date for the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X, confirming they will hit the market on October 16, 2025. While this announcement was exciting, savvy observers had already caught wind of the news thanks to leaks from Billbil-kun on Dealabs.

Billbil-kun also provided early insights into pricing, revealing that the ROG Xbox Ally is expected to retail for $549.99, while the ROG Xbox Ally X will be priced at $899.99. European pricing was hinted at in a previous leak, though Xbox had not officially confirmed these figures at the time of reporting.

New Features and Compatibility Initiatives

During the Gamescom stream, Xbox shared several key features regarding the Ally series. Notably, the devices will come equipped with Microsoft’s Co-Pilot for Gaming, enhancing the gaming experience. Additionally, games will now carry performance tags designated for the Ally, a feature similar to the performance indicators employed by Valve for the Steam Deck.

The performance tags will denote the following:

  • If a game is tested and achieves a minimum of 30 frames per second (FPS), it will be marked with “Should perform well on this device.”
  • A game that hits at least 60 FPS will receive the tag “Should perform great on this device.”
  • For games not yet tested, the tag “Performance check not available yet”will be displayed.

Handheld Compatibility Program

In a related initiative, Xbox introduced its Handheld Compatibility Program, aimed at optimizing a broader range of games for handheld platforms. This initiative is part of Xbox’s commitment to working closely with game studios to ensure that a multitude of titles, across various genres, will be compatible with the new Ally devices when they launch next month.

As the release date approaches, the community is eagerly waiting for official confirmation of pricing and the launch of pre-orders. The excitement around the ROG Xbox Ally and its related products is palpable, and the gaming world will be watching closely to see how they perform once they hit the shelves.
