This year’s Las Vegas Open has spotlighted two iconic factions within the Games Workshop universe: the Emperor’s Children from Warhammer 40K and the Soulblight Gravelords of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. As one of the largest wargaming conventions in the United States, the event draws thousands of enthusiasts who engage in gameplay while also eagerly anticipating new product announcements from the publisher.
Games Workshop took full advantage of this year’s gathering to unveil two new army boxes. Each box caters to one of their flagship games: a fresh lineup for Warhammer 40K featuring the Emperor’s Children, and an enhanced collection for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar featuring the Soulblight Gravelords. The Emperor’s Children, notorious for their affiliation with the Chaos deity Slaanesh and their characteristic Noise Marines, will finally see new miniatures added to their roster. On the other hand, the Soulblight Gravelords are set to gain an impressive array of skeletal warriors, specifically Barrow Knights and Barrow Guard, available in their Deathrattle army box. While the exact release dates remain undisclosed, both sets are expected to hit the shelves in the upcoming months.
Overview of Confirmed Releases
Upgrades for the Emperor’s Children and Soulblight Gravelords

The renowned Emperor’s Children in Warhammer 40,000 are celebrated for their formidable Noise Marines, who utilize sonic weaponry to disrupt their opponents during battles. Fans can look forward to not only the introduction of new Noise Marine models but also the addition of pivotal characters, including a refreshed Lord Kakophonist, who commands the Noise Marines, and a new Lord Exultant. Exciting new units will include melee-focused Flawless Blades and versatile Space Marines, which can be customized as either melee Infractors or ranged Tormentors. The iconic figure of Lucius, a prominent leader among the Emperor’s Children, will also receive a redesigned miniature in this series.
Shifting focus to the Soulblight Gravelords, notable new releases will feature a mounted Wight King, alongside upgraded Barrow Guard and Barrow Knight miniatures. Additionally, collectors will be delighted to see the inclusion of Vhodrai, a vampire riding a massive revenant dracolith, heralded as one of Age of Sigmar’s most impressive models to date with its substantial 160 mm base and formidable lance. A Vampire Lord on Nightmare Steed miniature has also been announced, further enriching the lineup.
Looking to future releases, Warhammer 40K will turn its attention to other intriguing Chaos Space Marine chapters and follow up with the likes of the Grey Knights, Space Wolves, Salamanders, Black Templars, and both Imperial and Chaos Knights. In parallel, Warhammer: Age of Sigmar enthusiasts can anticipate new entries from the Idoneth Deepkin and Night Haunt this year, with expansions into the realms of the Blades of Khorne, Kharadon Overlords, and Flash-Eater Courts also on the horizon. Notably, a yet-to-be-revealed faction is on the way, speculated to focus on the Chaos Dwarves.
Our Perspective: A Promising Era for Warhammer
An Abundance of Miniatures from Games Workshop

The year 2025 appears poised to be a banner year for Warhammer aficionados. With four exciting army boxes already announced, the spotlight shines brightly on two beloved factions within Warhammer 40,000 and an extensive array of enhancements for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Standing out among these releases, Vhodrai is set to become a spectacular centerpiece mini, part of an already remarkable selection of fantasy figures.
However, the potential downside for fans is the anticipated cost associated with these upcoming releases, which may place a financial burden on those already invested in the hobby. Nevertheless, the upcoming months promise an exciting journey for Warhammer enthusiasts, who will have much to explore and enjoy.
