Ranma Saotome

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday beginning in August 1987, the Ranma 1/2 manga concluded in March 1996, having produced over 400 chapters. As of the latest reports, it boasts sales exceeding 55 million copies, thus cementing its status as one of the highest-grossing manga series globally.

The series’ enduring popularity is no surprise, given that it has inspired three anime adaptations. The first aired in April 1989, produced by Studio Deen; however, it faced cancellation due to low ratings after a brief run. The title was subsequently rebranded and relaunched, leading to its success over 143 episodes.

In addition to the television adaptations, Ranma 1/2 has three theatrical films produced by Studio Deen. The latest adaptation was announced in June 2024, confirming that MAPPA would continue to cultivate this beloved series.

For those eager to catch up, Ranma 1/2 is available for streaming on Netflix.
