ODD ATELIER responds to reports of BLACKPINK JENNIE’s solo comeback in June

In June of 2024, News1, a South Korean media outlet, announced that BLACKPINK’s Jennie would be releasing a new solo album under her label, Odd Atelier (OA). The news quickly gained attention on social media, causing excitement amongst fans.

Despite initial reports, the singer’s agency quickly refuted the claims, stating that no confirmation has been made at this time.

Jennie Kim, also known as Jennie, is a multi-talented artist who is a singer, rapper, and actress. In August 2016, she made her debut as a member of the female group BLACKPINK under YG Entertainment and has since released multiple successful studio albums. In addition to her music career, she has also ventured into acting, making her debut in the HBO series The Idol in 2023 under the stage name Jennie Ruby.

As reported by the outlet, the highly-anticipated solo album of the BLACKPINK member will mark her return to the music industry. She has been dedicated to creating her album and coordinating promotional strategies for her upcoming release.

In December 2023, the BLACKPINK member renewed her group contract with YG Entertainment, committing to continue her involvement in BLACKPINK’s activities under the agency. However, she did not extend her individual contract.

Afterward, on December 24, 2023, she established her brand, Odd Atelier, with the intention of producing unique creations that would capture the attention of audiences. As of now, the Instagram page for her newly founded company has amassed over 2.1 million followers.

The fans were filled with excitement as this would mark her debut project under her own agency, and they were overjoyed to see the idol finally able to display her talent. Additionally, they were thrilled by the idea that Jennie could now pursue her solo endeavors without relying on YG Entertainment.

Despite this, the idol’s agency, Odd Atelier, released a statement clarifying that nothing had been officially confirmed. In a statement to News1, the idol also released the following statement:

“It has not been confirmed.”

On November 12, 2018, the 28-year-old made her debut under YG Entertainment with her single, Solo. After the release of her single, she teamed up with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp for One of the Girls (featured in the HBO television series The Idol) on December 8, 2023.

Recently, on October 6, 2023, through YG Entertainment, she released her second special single titled You & Me. In addition, she also made her acting debut on June 4, 2023, in the HBO television series The Idol. In the series, she played the role of Dyanne, a backup dancer.

She teamed up with Matt Champion for the track Slow Motion, which was dropped on March 8, 2024.

Jennie’s Achievements and Impact in the Music Industry

The idol was originally from South Korea but studied abroad in New Zealand for a period of five years. In 2010, she returned to her home country and started her career as part of the BLACKPINK group.

The idol has received numerous prestigious awards, such as the Gaon Chart Music Award and the Golden Disc Award. Her fans have affectionately nicknamed her as Human Chanel. In 2018, she was chosen as the global ambassador for the brand.

In addition, she represents multiple other high-end brands such as Calvin Klein, Hera, KT Corporation, Chum Churum, Dashing Diva, Ace Bed, Lotte Soonhari, Tamburins, and more.

The idol has actively participated in a variety of philanthropic endeavors, including their involvement in Cheongdam Woori Animal Hospital’s Protect Our Family campaign since 2018. This campaign aims to rescue and provide foster care for abandoned dogs through the organization.

She also recently attended the 18th Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign Charity Event.

Jennie’s music video for Solo has recently reached over one billion views on YouTube. Additionally, she was in attendance at the Paris Fashion Week for Chanel’s Fall-Winter 2024/2025 ready-to-wear show.
