UPDATE: We have embedded an interactive map to help you with tracking down all Climbing Gear set pieces in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

In the expansive world of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link begins his journey with limited gear and weaponry. While he can handle the challenges ahead, possessing the right armor significantly enhances his abilities, particularly when navigating the vast terrains of Hyrule and combating foes. One essential armor set to acquire is the Climbing Gear, specifically designed to assist Link in scaling mountains more efficiently.

The Climbing Gear set comprises three vital components: the Climbing Gear Top, Climbing Gear Boots, and Climbing Gear Bandana. Collectively, these pieces increase Link’s climbing speed and reduce stamina loss when jumping during climbs. Here’s a detailed guide on where to find each piece of this valuable gear.

For a visual reference, utilize the interactive map below to pinpoint the locations of each gear piece:

Locating the Climbing Gear Top

To find the Climbing Gear Top, begin your quest by fast traveling to the Sinakawak Shrine near New Serenne Stable, accessible in the North Hyrule Plain. This shrine serves as your starting point.

From the shrine, proceed east into the fields until you reach a notable hole in the ground at coordinates -1239, 0771, 0099.

Jump into this hole to access the North Hyrule Plain Cave. Defeat the nearby Bubbulfrog to obtain a Bubbul Gem, then continue into the cave until you encounter a Horroblin.

Select wisely at the Horroblin encounter—rather than advancing further, turn to explore the waterfall behind it. You’ll notice a glowing Brightcap inside the waterfall.

Once you climb to the top of the waterfall, dive behind it to discover a concealed area with an altar containing a chest. Within this chest lies the coveted Climbing Gear Top, completing this part of your search.

Notably, this piece is also part of the infamous Misko’s Treasure hunt.

Finding the Climbing Gear Boots

The next piece, the Climbing Gear Boots, is located in another cave, this time in the Lanayru region. Start your journey by fast traveling to the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower.

From the tower’s pinnacle, glide southward until you reach the base of the mountain. Make your way to the light blue marker on the map where the entrance to the Upland Zorana Byroad Cave awaits.

Upon reaching the cave, cut through the vines obstructing the entrance. As you journey deeper, resist the temptation to exit immediately upon sighting the cave’s exit. Instead, look right for a ledge with a Rock Like creature. Ascend to this platform by swimming and climbing.

Now descend until you encounter some ruins. Cross to the other side of this area and utilize the Ultrahand ability to raise the gate ahead. This action will drain the water from the room.

With the water level lowered, investigate beneath the staircase on Link’s right, where a chest awaits on an altar. Open it to claim the Climbing Gear Boots, completing this section of your gear hunt.

Acquiring the Climbing Gear Bandana

Lastly, head to the Ihen-a Shrine at Mipha’s Court for the final piece: the Climbing Gear Bandana. This shrine is perched atop Ploymus Mountain within the Zora Domain of Lanayru, so fast travel there to begin.

From the shrine, descend the southwest slopes of the mountain towards another light blue marker—this is the entrance to Ploymus Mountain Cave located at coordinates 3672, 0539, 0272.

The navigation within this cave can be challenging due to slippery surfaces, making slip-resistant gear like Froggy Armor or specific elixirs highly beneficial.

Alternatively, you can construct a flying device to ease traversal, such as a hot air balloon, granting access to higher spots within the cave.

Advance to the end of the cave, where a prominent platform with luminescent purple rocks is situated. Just around the corner lies another chest on an altar.
