NVIDIA Upgrades RTX 5070 Laptop GPU to 12GB with Innovative 3GB GDDR7 Memory for 50% Performance Boost Amid Supply Challenges

NVIDIA is set to enhance its popular GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU lineup with a new configuration that boasts 12 GB of memory, further solidifying its place in the gaming market.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 laptops have garnered significant attention in the gaming community. Their combination of robust gaming performance and powerful AI features creates an attractive option for a wide array of users, from casual gamers to more serious enthusiasts.

With the introduction of a new 12 GB memory configuration, NVIDIA aims to meet the growing demand for GeForce RTX 5070 laptops. This new variant offers a 50% increase in memory over the previous 8 GB model, enhancing its capabilities for both gaming and more demanding applications.

We’re expanding options across GeForce RTX laptops with a new GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU configuration, including a 12GB option. With strong demand for GeForce RTX Laptop GPUs and constrained memory supply, this addition helps maximize memory availability and allows partners to bring a broader range of laptops to consumers.

Despite the increase in memory capacity, the core specifications of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 remain unchanged. The GPU still consists of the Blackwell “GB206″architecture, featuring 4608 cores, 144 texture mapping units (TMUs), and 48 render output units (ROPs).

The memory configuration continues to utilize a 128-bit layout outfitted with 24 Gbps GDDR7 modules. However, instead of the previous 16Gb (2 GB) modules, the new 12 GB variant employs 24Gb (3 GB) modules, enabling the 50% increase while maintaining the same interface. Bandwidth capacity also remains at an impressive 384 GB/s through GDDR7 technology.

NVIDIA’s manufacturing partners are anticipated to launch new laptops featuring the 12 GB GeForce RTX 5070 in the near future. Notably, the existing 8 GB option will still be available, ensuring consumers have a choice that suits their gaming and performance needs. While there may be a slight price difference between the two options, the new laptops will still be more affordable than those equipped with the higher-tier 5070 Ti GPU, which also offers a baseline of 12 GB of memory.
