NVIDIA Unveils ‘Bonsai Diorama’ Demo Featuring Cutting-Edge Graphics Technology

NVIDIA has just introduced a new downloadable demo titled ‘Bonsai Diorama’. This demo showcases the impressive capabilities of DLSS 4, along with advancements in path tracing and RTX Mega Geometry. It complements the most recent update to the Unreal Engine RTX branch (version 5.6.1), which highlights the performance enhancements of ReSTIR PT and incorporates the comprehensive suite of DLSS 4 technologies—including DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLSS Frame Generation.

System Requirements for the Demo

For gamers interested in testing the demo, NVIDIA specifies some hardware requirements: a minimum of a GeForce RTX 2080Ti graphics card is required, while a GeForce RTX 5060 is recommended for optimal performance. Additionally, users should ensure their GeForce drivers are version 581.29 or newer.

Customization Options

Before entering the demo, players can customize their resolution and window settings through the main menu. NVIDIA advises starting the demo in full-screen mode. Users with 8 GB GPUs should select 1080p or 1440p, while those with 11 GB GPUs or more can opt for 4K resolution to fully appreciate the graphical fidelity.

In-Demo Controls and Features

Once inside the demo environment, pressing the ‘H’ key will toggle the user interface, allowing players to enable or disable RTX Mega Geometry and Ray Reconstruction. Users can also adjust DLSS Super Resolution settings, which include Off, DLAA, Auto, Quality, Balanced, Performance, and Ultra Performance. Additionally, the Frame Generation options range from Off to enhancements like 2x, 3x, and 4x.

Highlighting RTX Mega Geometry

The primary feature emphasized in this demo is RTX Mega Geometry. Initially introduced in Remedy’s Alan Wake 2, RTX Mega Geometry leverages full-quality Nanite geometry integrated into the ray tracing bounding volume hierarchy (BVH).This results in a significant enhancement, minimizing visual artifacts in ray-traced shadows and reflections that are often associated with Unreal Engine 5’s standard outputs.
