Nvidia Implements Monthly Playtime Caps for GeForce NOW

Nvidia has unveiled a significant update to its GeForce NOW streaming service, introducing a monthly playtime limit that will be enforced starting in 2025. Despite current subscription tiers, all members will be affected by these changes as the tech giant seeks to enhance the overall streaming experience.

New Monthly Playtime Allowance

Beginning next year, subscribers to GeForce NOW will receive a 100-hour monthly playtime allowance. This initiative aims to maintain high-quality service, faster streaming speeds, and reduced queue times, especially for Performance and Ultimate membership tiers. According to Nvidia’s official blog post, this change is designed to benefit about 94% of GeForce NOW users.

Unused Hours and Extra Costs

Under the new structure, members can roll over up to 15 hours of unused playtime to the following month. However, those wishing to exceed their allotted hours will incur additional charges. The current subscription rates are set at $9.99 for the Performance tier (previously known as Priority) and $19.99 for Ultimate. If users wish to extend their gaming time, they can purchase an extra 15 hours for:

• $2.99 for Performance members
• $5.99 for Ultimate members

Grace Period for Existing Members

For those already subscribed to GeForce NOW, the good news is that unlimited playtime will remain available until the end of 2025, provided they maintain their subscription without interruption. New users can also benefit from this unlimited access by signing up before December 31, 2024.

“As long as a member’s account remains uninterrupted and in good standing, they’ll continue to receive unlimited playtime for all of 2025,”notes Nvidia.

To monitor your gaming habits before the upcoming changes, Nvidia offers an account portal where you can view a detailed breakdown of your daily playtime. Additionally, the company has introduced a limited-time offer: Day Passes for GeForce NOW are currently available at a 25% discount, allowing users to enjoy 24 hours of access at a fraction of the normal monthly cost.
