Recent developments indicate that NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060/Ti and RTX 4070 graphics cards are on the verge of running out of stock, with reports suggesting they are nearing the end of their lifecycle.
Upcoming Stock Shortages: What to Expect from NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 and 4060 Series
A variety of NVIDIA’s RTX 40 series GPUs are currently facing availability challenges in different markets, notably in China. According to IT Home, both the GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 are projected to become unavailable by the end of the first quarter of 2025, marking the conclusion of their market presence.
The scarcity of the RTX 4070 will be particularly pronounced, as it is likely to be out of stock by the end of this month. After this point, NVIDIA’s Add-In Board Partners (AIBs) will not receive any further shipments, effectively extinguishing the supply of this model. In contrast, the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti will remain available for a few additional weeks before their own stock runs dry.
Reports from Chinese Board Channels suggest that while the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 will still have stock through March, the RTX 4060 Ti is already becoming harder to find and is expected to be sold out prior to the standard RTX 4060. Notably, both of these models are anticipated to receive one last restock in February. Should these reports hold true, the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti will be the first models in the Ada architecture to reach the end of their lifecycle.
Current discussions about NVIDIA’s lineup also exclude the higher-end RTX 4070 variants, such as the Super, Ti, and Ti Super editions. It is important to note that the impending launch of the RTX 5070 series could significantly change the marketplace for these higher-end models. The RTX 4070 has already found stiff competition from the Super edition, which offers a more favorable price-to-performance ratio and is more readily available than its non-Super counterpart.
This competitive landscape may explain the anticipated disappearance of the standard RTX 4070. Conversely, the reasons behind the discontinuation of the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti remain unclear, especially considering these models are currently NVIDIA’s primary offerings in the budget segment. While the company has yet to unveil the 60-class cards from its forthcoming Blackwell lineup, rumors suggest that the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti could launch in Q1, paving the way for a smoother transition from the 4060 series to the newer lineup.
