The latest advancements in NVIDIA’s offerings, particularly Project G-Assist and the NVIDIA App, promise significant improvements in performance and usability for RTX GPU users. Notably, these updates are designed to enhance the gaming experience while ensuring more efficient resource management.
Enhanced Performance: NVIDIA’s Project G-Assist and App Updates
NVIDIA’s Project G-Assist has undergone a transformative update that reduces its VRAM usage by a remarkable 40%.This decrease in memory consumption makes the AI utility not only faster but also more responsive, thereby allowing users to enjoy a seamless experience. The latest enhancements also include auto-selection features for plugins tailored to specific tasks, supporting a more customized usage experience.

Another significant shift is the broader availability of Project G-Assist, which is now compatible with all RTX AI PCs featuring 6 GB or more of VRAM. Previously limited to higher-end GPUs with 12 GB of VRAM, this expansion opens up access to a wider array of users. Additionally, G-Assist facilitates the installation of an extensive range of plugins directly from Mod.io.
Key Features of the Update
- Global DLSS Overrides: This feature empowers users to enable DLSS Multi-Frame Generation or DLSS Super Resolution profiles across extensive titles without needing to configure each one individually.
- Project G-Assist Enhancements: The latest iteration of G-Assist introduces a more efficient AI model, which consumes 40% less memory while ensuring quicker and more accurate user responses.
- Legacy 3D Settings: Users can now easily adjust classic game settings, including anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing, enhancing the gameplay experience for older titles.
The NVIDIA App is also receiving notable upgrades showcased at Gamescom. These improvements include new DLSS overdrive options, allowing users to easily toggle global DLSS settings and monitor their status, which is beneficial for games lacking official DLSS support.

Additionally, support for Smooth Motion is being integrated into the NVIDIA App for RTX 40 series GPUs. Initially introduced through a beta GeForce driver, Smooth Motion can now be enabled directly within the app. As a driver-level frame-generation feature, Smooth Motion provides benefits for games that do not support DLSS, although it may not match the visual quality offered by traditional DLSS integration.

Finally, the NVIDIA App is set to reintroduce several control panel features from the previous “Legacy”design. These include expanded 3D settings alongside support for NVIDIA Surround, as well as various enhancements for classic games such as Anisotropic Filtering and Anti-Aliasing among others.
BETA users can access the updated NVIDIA App starting August 19th, while general users will gain access a week later.
