NVIDIA’s strategic position within the Chinese market may experience a significant enhancement following the anticipated discussions between President Trump and President Xi Jinping, particularly regarding the Blackwell AI chips.
Trump-Xi Meeting to Highlight NVIDIA’s Blackwell AI Chip: A Possible Game Changer
The turbulent landscape of US-China economic relations has presented numerous challenges for NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, especially since the onset of trade tensions. Recent indications, as noted in a Bloomberg report, suggest that President Trump plans to engage in discussions about NVIDIA’s Blackwell AI chip with his Chinese counterpart. This pivotal dialogue could be instrumental in paving the way for a negotiated resolution to trade disputes, providing a potential lifeline for NVIDIA in the Chinese market.
Donald Trump said he expects to lower tariffs the US has imposed on Chinese goods over the fentanyl crisis and speak with China’s Xi Jinping about Nvidia Corp.’s flagship Blackwell artificial intelligence chip, as leaders of the world’s biggest economies seek to ease tensions in a meeting on Thursday.- Bloomberg
Previously, Jensen Huang expressed concerns regarding NVIDIA’s market share in China, which has plummeted to an alarming 0%, a stark contrast to its former dominance. Huang emphasized that the future AI chip solutions for China hinge on the development of the Blackwell architecture, as further iterations of the Hopper series are no longer viable. Speculation suggests that the forthcoming Blackwell-based chip could be the B30A AI model, but the approval of such developments is contingent on the progress of US-China negotiations.

The B30A AI chip is projected to incorporate advanced features such as 8-Hi HBM3E memory and the TSMC N4P fabrication process, alongside NVLink connectivity. A significant enhancement in performance is expected, driven by the innovative Blackwell architecture. Notably, the B30A will adopt a dual-die design, contrasting with the monolithic structure of the previous H20 AI chip. This architectural shift may position the B30A at a comparable level with the B200/B300 chiplets, although specifications remain tentative at this time.
Should NVIDIA secure approval for the Blackwell AI chip in China, it could mark a critical resurgence for the company, significantly impacting both revenue growth and market share expansion within the nation.
