NVIDIA Plans Retail Launch of RTX 5060 Ti Concurrent with Review Embargo Lift; RTX 5060 Expected to Release in May

NVIDIA is reportedly postponing the launch of its anticipated RTX 5060 series graphics cards, with both the RTX 5060 Ti and the RTX 5060 set to debut a month apart from one another.

NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Series Launch: A Closer Look at the Timing and Implications for Consumers

Recent reports from multiple sources confirm that NVIDIA is, in fact, delaying the release of the RTX 5060 series. Initially expected to be launched in March, the RTX 5060 Ti will now be available in April, while the RTX 5060 is likely to follow with a retail launch later in May.

According to HKEPC, a media outlet based in Hong Kong, NVIDIA plans to launch the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, available in both 8 GB and 16 GB variants, on April 15. The GPUs will hit store shelves the following day. In a surprising move, NVIDIA will unveil these products simultaneously with the lifting of the review embargo (set for 9 PM Hong Kong time), potentially leaving consumers with little time to review performance evaluations before making a purchase decision.

This strategy raises several concerns about the appropriateness of the launch timing. Typically, consumers prefer to assess reviews regarding product performance and price-value ratio prior to purchase. With NVIDIA’s history of limited stock for the RTX 50 series, the GPUs are expected to sell out quickly, compelling eager buyers to act swiftly, often leading to lengthy wait times for restocks.

In addition, while the RTX 5060 will be unveiled alongside the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB/16GB models, it is anticipated to reach the retail market in mid-May, likely on the 15th or 16th of the month.

Another noteworthy development is NVIDIA’s reported requirement for its board partners to offer at least one model at the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) during the launch. Consumers can expect a base model from each partner; however, it is likely that the bulk of available models, especially overclocked (OC) versions, will command higher prices.
