A groundbreaking partnership between NVIDIA and Mediatek is gearing up to disrupt the desktop and laptop processor market, as the first glimpse of their N1 chip series surfaces online.

Benchmark Insights: NVIDIA N1X Achieves Striking Scores in Geekbench

While NVIDIA chose not to reveal its N1 series CPUs during Computex, this early online appearance is noteworthy. The company’s primary focus at the event was the showcase of its DGX Spark system powered by the GB10 Grace Blackwell superchip. However, NVIDIA has strategic plans to introduce more budget-friendly CPUs targeting the mainstream consumer market.

The upcoming NVIDIA N1X, unlike its more powerful counterpart, the DGX Spark, is designed to meet the needs of everyday users. Early benchmarks reveal that the N1X will feature a similar ARM core architecture to the GB10, as highlighted in reports from Geekbench (via @Olrak29_).It is expected that the N1X will cater specifically to desktop setups, while NVIDIA’s N1 chip is set for mobile applications.

Initially, it was speculated that the N1X would come equipped with 8 to 12 cores; however, new insights indicate that it mirrors the GB10’s configuration with 10 Cortex-X925 and 10 Cortex-A725 ARM cores. Although the core specifications for the N1X have yet to be disclosed, the benchmark tests suggest a system configuration utilizing an HP setup running Ubuntu 24.04.1 and featuring 128 GB of RAM. The reported base clock speed is 2.81 GHz, with a substantial boost clock potential reaching around 4 GHz, enabling the N1X to achieve a remarkable score of 3, 096 in single-core and 18, 837 in multi-core tests.

It is important to note that while Geekbench 6 scores provide valuable insights, they are not always consistent across different tests. Nevertheless, the debut benchmark showcases the N1X’s competitive edge against current-generation processors from AMD and Intel, placing its results in alignment with the Core Ultra series 2 and Zen 5-based Strix Halo processors, which is an impressive feat.

Although NVIDIA has remained tight-lipped about the full details of the N1 series, we can anticipate further benchmark revelations in the following weeks. Industry experts predict that NVIDIA might unveil more information in the coming months; however, it seems unlikely that the official release of the N1 series will occur this year.
