Nvidia Unveils Major Upgrades for GeForce NOW
Nvidia has officially commenced the rollout of significant enhancements to its cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW, a move that was initially teased last month. Dubbed the “Biggest Cloud Gaming Upgrade Ever, ”this upgrade features the new Blackwell SuperPOD servers, which deliver RTX 5080-level performance in select regions.
Accessing the Latest Technology
This upgraded service is available to Ultimate membership subscribers in supported areas without any increase in the monthly fee, which remains at $19.99. The introduction of the RTX 5080-level servers introduces exciting advantages, such as the ability to play games at an impressive 5K resolution and 120 frames per second (FPS), along with DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation and ultra-low latency streaming capabilities.
“NVIDIA Blackwell RTX servers are starting to power up worldwide, so more members can start streaming with unprecedented performance on virtually any device, including PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, LG TVs (4K at 120Hz) and even Steam Decks (now up to 90 fps), ”says Nvidia.
Expanded Availability and Features
While these upgraded servers are not yet universally available, Nvidia is actively working on expanding their reach to more regions. In addition, the recently announced Install-to-Play feature has been implemented, significantly increasing the number of supported titles by over 2, 000 games.
Ultimate and Performance members can now utilize 100GB of space on Nvidia’s servers to install and stream their owned games. For those requiring more storage, additional data packs are offered at competitive monthly rates: $2.99 for 200GB, $4.99 for 500GB, and $7.99 for 1TB.
This Week’s New Game Additions
Among the new games added for cloud play this week, the highly anticipated Borderlands 4 stands out as the headline release:
- Firefighting Simulator: Ignite (New release on Steam, Sept.9)
- Borderlands 4 (New release on Steam and Epic Games Store, Sept.11)
- Professional Fishing 2 (New release on Steam, Sept.11)
It’s important to note that, unlike subscription services such as Game Pass, players must own a copy of a game to access it on GeForce NOW’s cloud servers, or at least have a license via PC Game Pass.
