NVIDIA has officially unveiled its highly anticipated GeForce RTX 5090 Blackwell GPU, marking a significant moment for graphics enthusiasts. The unboxing event highlights not only the GPU’s advanced features but also a complete transformation in its packaging design.
Redefining Eco-Friendly Packaging: The GeForce RTX 5090
In a notable shift, NVIDIA has enhanced its packaging approach with the RTX 5090. The company draws inspiration from sustainable practices adopted by major tech players like Apple. The new packaging is not just visually appealing but also aligns with environmentally conscious initiatives.

The shift towards eco-friendliness is apparent in the GeForce RTX 5090’s packaging, which eliminates plastic and features a more compact design than its predecessor, the RTX 4090. NVIDIA’s commitment to sustainability is displayed through a 100% plastic-free packaging made from “paper fibers”in a distinctive brown hue, which, while it may not attract every hardcore gamer, signifies a progressive move forward.

The box’s design features eye-catching seals reminiscent of premium products, complemented by the slogan “Inspired by Gamers. Enhanced by AI. Built by NVIDIA”positioned beneath the tear strip. Inside, users will find an aesthetically pleasing motif and the new “Lunar Stone”color scheme, enhancing the premium feel of the product.
In addition to the packaging, the inner box includes a specialized power connector: a 4x PCIe 8-pin to 1x 16-pin adapter, which is crucial for the GPU’s operation. The RTX 5090 also adopts a new design, measuring approximately 304mm x 137mm and featuring a two-slot configuration with a height of 40mm.

The GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition introduces “SFF-ready”design principles, making it compatible with a variety of small form factor cases. This innovation is attributed to NVIDIA’s new “Double Flow Through”GPU layout, which utilizes a multipart PCB for improved airflow and cooling.

This new design allows for efficient cooling via two push fans that guide air through the central PCB housing the GPU and other critical components. Furthermore, a dedicated PCB for the PCIe connector and a versatile board for high-speed signaling streamline the connection to a specialized I/O PCB. The inclusion of a “3D Vapor Chamber”enhances thermal management by rapidly transferring heat to the GPU’s heat pipes, optimizing performance.

In conclusion, NVIDIA’s unboxing presentation underscores a refreshing evolution in GPU packaging while delivering a powerful product. With a focus on sustainability and usability, the RTX 5090 seems poised to attract attention from both gamers and environmentally conscious consumers alike. The gaming community eagerly anticipates the reception of this flagship GPU.
