NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 D V2 Launch Date Confirmed: Retail Release Set for August 12th After August 5th Unveiling

NVIDIA is preparing to launch its latest graphics card, the GeForce RTX 5090 D V2, specifically tailored for the Chinese market. This new variant is set to be unveiled in early August, with sales expected to commence shortly thereafter.

According to reports, NVIDIA will officially showcase the RTX 5090 D V2 on August 5, just a week before it becomes available for purchase on August 12. This strategic reveal is likely aimed at ramping up interest and ensuring that supply chain logistics are properly managed to meet anticipated demand.

The previous release of the RTX 5090 faced overwhelming demand that led to inventory shortages, but with this launch being exclusive to China, NVIDIA might avoid similar pitfalls. Notably, the RTX 50 series is already benefitting from improved availability compared to earlier generations.

The RTX 5090 D V2 represents a notable departure from its predecessor, the RTX 5090 D. While both models share many specifications, the new variant will be constrained in its AI functionality and overall memory capacity. Specifically, the RTX 5090 D V2 will come equipped with 24 GB of GDDR7 memory, a reduction from the 32 GB seen in the discontinued RTX 5090 D, which was retired following the introduction of a new US export policy.

This upcoming GPU will utilize the GB202-240 die and boast an impressive 21, 760 CUDA cores. However, there are crucial adjustments in its design, including a narrower memory bus width of 384 bits as opposed to 512 bits found in the RTX 5090 D. Consequently, memory bandwidth will drop to approximately 1.34 TB/s, reflecting an adherence to US export regulations that limit it to 1.4 TB/s.

In the wake of the RTX 5090 D’s discontinuation, existing units are still appearing on global markets. Recently, a GALAX RTX 5090 D HOF OC LAB was listed on eBay for an astonishing $5, 500, illustrating the ongoing demand for premium graphics options.
