With CES 2025 just around the corner, excitement is building. NVIDIA’s presentation is scheduled for January 6, where CEO Jensen Huang will deliver the keynote address. It is here that the company is anticipated to reveal its new Blackwell gaming GPU lineup.

Interestingly, leaks suggest that NVIDIA plans to launch the GeForce RTX 5080 before the flagship RTX 5090, deviating from its usual strategy of highlighting the top-tier GPU first. New reports indicate that the RTX 5080 may hit retail shelves later this month, specifically on January 21.

According to a tweet from HKEPC (@hkepcmedia), the GeForce RTX 5080 will become available for purchase just two weeks after its unveiling on January 6. However, details surrounding the launch date for the RTX 5090 remain speculative. It might launch alongside the RTX 5080 or be rolled out later in the month.

The RTX 5080 is poised to be a flagship gaming GPU, succeeding the previous RTX 4080 from the Ada generation. It features the new GB203-300-A1 architecture and boasts an impressive 10,752 CUDA cores. Although it maintains 16 GB of VRAM capacity, it is expected to include faster GDDR7 memory, achieving speeds of 30 Gbps—reportedly even exceeding that of the RTX 5090.
