Recent reports indicate that NVIDIA plans to launch the GeForce RTX 5050 as early as July, featuring the cutting-edge GDDR7 memory.
Upcoming Release of NVIDIA’s Entry-Level Blackwell GPU: RTX 5050 Set for July
NVIDIA is in the final stages of preparing its first wave of Blackwell-based GPUs within the GeForce RTX 50 series, with the RTX 5060 being the most recent addition. The anticipation surrounding the GeForce RTX 5050 has been growing for months, and it is confirmed to cater to both desktop and mobile markets.
While its exact release date was previously ambiguous, latest reports suggest that the RTX 5050 could hit the market in July. This entry-level option in NVIDIA’s RTX 50 portfolio is expected to utilize the GB207 die, which includes 2560 CUDA cores and offers 8 GB of VRAM. Initially, there were speculations that this model might use a different memory type, but new insights indicate that GDDR7 memory will also feature in the RTX 5050.

This is further substantiated by multiple leaks showing the laptop variant of the RTX 5050 equipped with GDDR7 memory. All existing GPUs in the RTX 50 line utilize GDDR7 VRAM, which operates at an impressive speed of 28 Gbps. Opting for GDDR6 in the RTX 5050 would likely result in a significant performance reduction, so maintaining GDDR7 for this model is promising. Consequently, users can expect a performance bump compared to the GeForce RTX 4050, which is currently available only in laptop format.
When drawing comparisons with the GeForce RTX 4050 mobile version, it’s important to note that there won’t be an increase in core counts for the RTX 5050 for both desktop and mobile variants. However, users will benefit from a memory upgrade of 2 GB and a more expansive 128-bit memory bus. Following the RTX 5050’s launch, NVIDIA is anticipated to pivot to the “Super”series, as previously discussed.
