Although the RTX 50 series was unveiled a few months ago, its influence on the Steam Hardware Survey statistics has been minimal. However, progress is being made as these GPUs increasingly make their presence felt.
April Steam Hardware Survey Highlights: Leading RTX 50 Series Graphics Cards
Launched in early January, NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series only became widely available by the end of the month. Initial challenges, including limited stock and exorbitant prices, hindered adoption among gamers. Fast forward to today, and while these graphics cards are increasingly showing up in the survey results, they still have a long way to go before they rival the market share of older generation GPUs. In contrast to the RX 9000 series, several models from the RTX 50 series are now being listed.
In the latest April survey, the GeForce RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070 have made their mark, each with a noted presence. Specifically, both the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 have captured a share of 0.38%, while the RTX 5070 Ti follows closely with a share of 0.28%.The RTX 5080 made its first appearance on Steam Stats in March, prior to the introduction of the 70-class cards, reflecting a growth of +0.18% in April.

Interestingly, the RTX 5090 is noticeably absent from the Steam Hardware Survey. This absence doesn’t necessarily indicate a lack of users with the flagship Blackwell card; rather, it highlights the nature of the survey, which relies on user registrations and may overlook unregistered systems. While the survey provides a useful snapshot of current hardware trends, its accuracy can vary based on user participation.
In a surprising turn of events, there have been no entries for the RX 9000 series GPUs in the most recent survey, despite the RX 9070 series being fairly accessible in stores. Potential explanations for this gap range from a sluggish rollout to user preferences. Nonetheless, industry watchers anticipate the RX 9000 series to finally make an appearance in upcoming surveys. Currently, the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 are the only RDNA 4 GPUs in circulation, with the RX 9060 XT expected to debut later this month at Computex, potentially going toe-to-toe with NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti.
When examining the broader GPU landscape, the RTX 4060 Laptop GPU has emerged as the most popular option, claiming a solid 4.99% share. This increase of 0.51% leaves both the RTX 3060 and the desktop variant of the RTX 4060 trailing in its wake. In fact, the entire top 20 GPUs listed in popularity primarily come from NVIDIA, with the RX 6600 being the standout AMD option at just 0.93% market share.
