NVIDIA’s latest driver update, designed to address the persistent black screen issue with RTX 50 GPUs, has failed to deliver the expected solution for numerous users. In fact, it seems that the update has exacerbated the problem for some gamers.
Growing Issues with NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Driver Updates
The launch of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Blackwell GPUs has been marred by an array of complications, particularly concerning crashes and black screen incidents during gameplay. NVIDIA’s recent update, the Game Ready 572.60 driver, was intended to resolve these DisplayPort connection issues alongside certain BIOS adjustments. However, reports from users, including @mpr_reviews, suggest that the update has led to an increase in glitches, particularly with games supporting Multi-Frame Generation (MFG).
Using the latest Nvidia driver 572.60 causes every game that supports multi frame generation to black screen crash and restart my PC on the RTX 5080 when MFG 3x or 4x is used. Either at game startup or when exiting the game. The latest 572.65 hotfix driver also exhibits the same…

Reports indicate that all games utilizing MFG now face crashing issues. Despite the introduction of a subsequent hotfix, the problems persist. Interestingly, the black screen failures are not confined solely to MFG-compatible titles, although they occur more frequently within that subset. This raises questions concerning the effectiveness of NVIDIA’s recent driver update, as there have been only a few reports regarding crashes since its release. However, initial feedback suggests a significant glitch that may be tied to how MFG interacts with the RTX 50 Blackwell architecture.
It happened to me today playing Death Stranding on my 5080 with DLSS and frame gen turned off, it was weird. It didn’t happen in any driver and I thought it could be an overheating, but I was monitoring the temps and both CPU and GPU were below 65. Gonna rollback the driver.

Users experiencing these recurring crashing issues beyond the latest update are encouraged to share their experiences, as this information is crucial for addressing the matter with NVIDIA directly. Many gamers, including @mpr_reviews, are opting to revert to earlier driver versions, citing that prior iterations resulted in fewer crashes. Given that the situation is continuously unfolding, a deeper understanding of the root causes may develop as more reports emerge.
With the imminent launch of AMD’s RX 9070 series, it is particularly concerning to see NVIDIA’s RTX 50 GPUs facing such significant user experience challenges. If these issues remain unresolved, Team Red could gain a competitive advantage in the mainstream GPU market.
