NVIDIA CEO: “Trump Tariffs” Will Not Significantly Affect Production, Prioritizing US Manufacturing

NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, recently addressed concerns surrounding the impact of Trump-era tariffs, asserting that in the “near term, ”these measures will not significantly affect the company’s operations. Huang disclosed that NVIDIA is collaborating with partners to bolster production within the United States.

Long-Term Outlook on Revenue Amidst US Tariffs

The introduction of new tariffs has sent ripples through the markets, prompting fears of disruptions to the global supply chain. NVIDIA has drawn notable attention due to its substantial market engagement in China, a critical region for its business. However, in an interview with CNBC, Huang emphasized that the tariffs will not materially impact NVIDIA’s strategy or revenue in the immediate future.

We are enthusiastic about building in America anyway. We are working with TSMC to get them ready to manufacture chips in the US. In the near-term, the impact of tariffs won’t be meaningful.

One of the objectives of the tariff policy is to resurrect the semiconductor industry in the United States. The administration’s initiatives have yielded positive results, as companies like TSMC have announced considerable investments in domestic manufacturing. This shift could greatly diminish dependence on chip production in Taiwan, helping to shield companies from regional tensions such as those between China and Taiwan, while also creating a more resilient supply chain.

For NVIDIA, China remains a vital partner and a significant source of revenue within its data center and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors. However, due to US trade restrictions, NVIDIA is encountering limitations in its business operations within the Chinese market. The company is permitted to sell “cut-down”versions of its AI GPUs, such as the H20, but faces constraints on the number of units that can be sold. Given these circumstances, coupled with fierce competition from local players like Huawei, the sustainability of NVIDIA’s position in the Chinese market is questionable. This evolving landscape could result in a notable decline in revenue for the company.

Despite the global pressures, NVIDIA’s recent keynote at the GTC 2025 event highlighted the company’s resilience and commitment to its AI strategies. Even amid these challenges, NVIDIA continues to excel and innovate in the tech industry.
