Recent reports indicate that NVIDIA is expediting the launch of its GeForce RTX 5050 desktop GPU, moving the release date earlier than initially planned. A well-known leaker has shared insights on this significant shift.
Launch Date Rescheduled: GeForce RTX 5050 to Debut on July 1st
According to the leaker @Zed__Wang, NVIDIA has notified its Add-In Board (AIB) partners of a new release date for the GeForce RTX 5050 desktop GPU, now set for July 1st. Originally, this model was slated for release at the end of July. This unexpected advancement in the timeline raises questions about the reasons behind NVIDIA’s decision and its potential implications.
NVIDIA suddenly informed all AIC that the desktop RTX 5050’s launch date has been rescheduled to July 1st. The former launch date was the end of July. IDK why Nvidia made this award decision since no card can be shipped on July 1st.

However, the abrupt change in the launch schedule has put AIBs at a disadvantage, as they may not be adequately prepared for this new timeline. The logistics behind a product launch require careful planning, including inventory management, production, assembly, and distribution—which typically demands several weeks of lead time. It is likely that the availability of the RTX 5050 could be limited during its initial release due to these constraints.

The motivations behind NVIDIA’s decision remain unclear. Some speculate that the earlier launch might be related to the simultaneous release of the RTX 5050 laptop model in China and potentially other global markets. Consequently, it is anticipated that initial stock may see limited availability, but it should improve significantly as supply chains stabilize in the subsequent weeks.
Currently, the RTX 50 series GPUs are experiencing a decline in prices while availability is increasing. This trend suggests that NVIDIA and its AIB partners will be able to manage the inventory issues surrounding the RTX 5050 more effectively as they ramp up production and distribution efforts in the near future.
The GeForce RTX 5050 represents the seventh addition to the Blackwell RTX 50 series, built on the GB207 architecture. This model is projected to be the most budget-friendly option, featuring 2560 CUDA cores and 8 GB of VRAM.
