“Novak Djokovic would drive the sandworms crazy” – Fans amused by tennis influencer’s Dune-inspired clay court parody
Fans of tennis were reminded of Novak Djokovic by Jalena Meyer’s recent clay court parody, showcasing her influence as a social media personality.
The Dune film series is an adaptation of a science-fiction novel with the same name, originally published in 1965, which depicts a brutal battle for control of a desolate planet known as Arrakis.
The first movie of the series was premiered in 2021, followed by the second part’s release on March 1 of this year. The film showcases a star-studded cast, including Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, and Jason Mamoa. It was directed and produced by Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
Jalena Meyer recently posted a brief sketch on Instagram, inspired by the massive sandworms in Dune that can devour anything on the desolate landscape of Arrakis.
Meyer’s spoof features her on a clay court, preparing to serve. Suddenly, she comes to a halt and glances over at a man dressed as a character from the Dune film series, who gives her a warning. As soon as the man’s words are heard, the clay court begins to rumble and move, resembling the groundworms in the movie.
Upon the claycourt swing, tennis enthusiasts were entertained by the ingenuity displayed in this video.
“Holy crap. This has gotta be one of the most creative tennis videos I’ve ever come across,”one fan wrote in the comment box below.
Another individual asserted that Novak Djokovic would present a formidable challenge for the sandworms.
“Djokovic would drive the sandworms crazy,”the fan wrote.
According to another fan, the person seen warning Meyer in the video bears a strong resemblance to Denise Villeneuve, the director and producer of Dune. The fan noted:
“This guy looks just like Denise Villeneuve.”

Novak Djokovic ready for a clay court comeback at Monte Carlo Masters 2024
Novak Djokovic will begin his 2024 clay season at the Monte Carlo Masters. Having participated in the Masters 1000 tournament 16 times in his career so far, he has emerged victorious twice in 2013 and 2015. However, in the previous year, he was defeated by Lorenzo Musetti in the third round.
In 2013, the Serb emerged victorious against tough opponents such as Mikhail Youzhny, Juan Monaco, Jarkko Nieminen, and Fabio Fognini before ultimately defeating Rafael Nadal in the final. In his second triumph, he overcame challenges from Albert Ramos Vinolas, Andreas Haider-Maurer, Marin Cilic, Rafael Nadal, and ultimately Tomas Berdych.
Despite being a 24-time Grand Slam champion, Djokovic has had a lackluster beginning to the 2024 season. He was unable to lead Serbia to victory at the United Cup, followed by a defeat in the semifinals of the Australian Open. Most recently, he suffered a loss to lucky-loser Luca Nardi in the third round of the Indian Wells Masters.
The 2024 Monte Carlo Masters is scheduled to commence on Saturday, April 6.
