“No one is prepared to go that length” – Kade Ruotolo reveals extreme training to sharpen mental fortitude with twin Tye Ruotolo
Kade Ruotolo, the reigning and undisputed ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion from the United States, is confident that he and his twin brother Tye, who holds the ONE welterweight submission grappling world title, are at the pinnacle of the grappling world. They believe this is because no one else is willing to put in the same level of dedication and effort as they do to reach the heights of greatness.
The two 21-year-old prodigies are renowned for their dedication to intense training routines, consistently entering their fights in peak physical shape and prepared for battle. Occasionally, these training exercises may seem a bit unconventional.
During a recent interview with ONE Championship, Kade discussed the intense nature of his training sessions. He revealed that he and his opponent once spent an entire hour slapping each other in the face. The 21-year-old American athlete shared:
“My brother and I, we’ve had one-hour slap fighting, basically open hand punches, black eyes, the whole deal, for just an hour straight. So we know no one is prepared to go to that length with us. That’s the confidence, that mental toughness. No one is prepared to go through that.”
Despite their unconventional approach to the gym, the brothers’ unique style is exactly what sets them apart as thrilling athletes. Fans can expect to be amazed once again as the Ruotolos return to the ONE Championship ring this weekend.
