No Man’s Sky Orbital update finally adds an editor to make fully custom starships
Once again, Hello Games has delivered a significant update to No Man’s Sky. Since its initial release in 2016, this science fiction adventure game has consistently received free updates, and the latest one is no exception. Titled Orbital, this update introduces exciting features such as the ability to customize starships, randomly generated elements in space stations, improved fleet mission guidance, and more.
The major update for No Man’s Sky includes the addition of a Starship Fabricator in space stations. This feature allows players to construct their own fighter, hauler, or explorer starship from the ground up. They can choose the parts and even customize the paint job. However, acquiring the necessary parts for these custom starships will require either purchasing them or finding them through the game’s salvage mechanic.
According to Sean Murray from Hello Games, players have longed for the ability to design their own starships in their desired configuration. With this new feature, you can now combine various salvaged ship parts in endless combinations to create entirely new forms.
In addition, space stations have undergone a complete transformation, utilizing procedural generation similar to the planets in this universe. The game dynamically generates everything from massive external modifications to interior layouts inspired by the various alien regions, resulting in each space station being a one-of-a-kind destination for players to discover.
Frigates within a fleet now have the ability to seek input from players on decisions. This may include seeking advice on navigating challenging situations, and according to Hello Games, the choices made will have an impact on the current mission of the fleet. In some cases, players may even be asked to directly intervene in a situation.
Additionally, the update includes enhanced Guild rewards and discounts from vendors based on reputation. For players seeking profit, there is now a demand-based market trading system. Furthermore, enhancements have been made to screen space reflection rendering and various bug fixes have been implemented. The complete list of changes can be found here.
