Overview
- Recent updates to No Man’s Sky introduce oceanic planets featuring unique resources within purple-class star systems.
- Players are experiencing issues with base construction on water surfaces, leading to potential disappearance of builds.
- A notable instance involves the partial loss of a player’s meticulously crafted raft house on a water planet.
A talented builder from the No Man’s Sky community recently showcased an exquisite raft house floating on the surface of one of the newly introduced oceanic planets. However, this stunning creation was impacted by a concerning glitch that affects player constructions in these aquatic environments. Many enthusiastic builders within the game have been eager to realize similar projects on these water worlds. Yet, it’s crucial for anyone considering such builds to be aware of the current bug that may threaten the integrity of their work.
The introduction of ocean planets is just one highlight of the latest free update for No Man’s Sky, titled Worlds Part 2. The gaming community has long anticipated the arrival of these vibrant aquatic environments, which boast dark, expansive ocean depths, rich aquatic life, and new exclusive resources. These ocean planets are exclusively located in purple-class star systems, accessible only after players complete the main storyline and several side quests.
The remarkable design that has garnered attention belongs to a player known as WrastlingIsReal. This charming wooden raft house appears to float gracefully on the tranquil surface of one oceanic planet. In a clever design choice, the creator utilized resized gas cylinder props to suggest buoyancy beneath the structure. The aesthetic is warm and inviting, emphasizing comfort over industrial scale, and is filled with numerous decorations, creating a homely atmosphere amid the stars. Additionally, the creator provided galactic coordinate glyphs in their screenshots, allowing other players to locate this beautiful floating home through portal structures.
Caution for Builders on Water Worlds

Unfortunately, the creator quickly discovered that a substantial portion of their impressive build had vanished owing to the aforementioned bug associated with bases constructed on these deep ocean planets. It appears that these new worlds have greater surface levels in order to create the illusion of expansive oceans, rather than featuring actual deeper terrain. Consequently, the water level often sits close to the build height limits, leading to issues where bases may disappear partially or entirely due to this malfunction.

Regrettably, much of the raft house was lost due to this issue. However, some fans speculate that even if the bases are not currently visible, they may still exist in the game’s coding. Hello Games is actively addressing numerous bugs in recent patches, and the community remains optimistic about the potential restoration of lost bases in future updates.
