No Man’s Sky Introduces Cross-Platform Saves and PS5 Pro Enhancements

Eight years post-launch, Hello Games has consistently enriched No Man’s Sky with a series of free updates, solidifying its standing in the gaming community. Initially released on various modern gaming consoles, this beloved title has allowed cross-play but, until now, players were limited by separate save files across platforms.

In a recent announcement, Hello Games revealed the highly anticipated feature of cross-platform saves. The studio described this initiative as “a huge undertaking”and noted that it signifies one of the most requested features by the community. This enhancement empowers players to transition seamlessly between different gaming systems. Whether you’re lounging on your couch with a console, adventuring on the go with a Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck, or constructing intricate bases on a powerful PC, this innovation is poised to significantly enrich the gaming experience.

The introduction of cross-platform saving is no small feat, especially considering the vast amount of time players have poured into creating detailed in-game profiles. According to Hello Games, the development team worked behind the scenes for six months to bring this feature to fruition, which is now being rolled out to players.

How to Access Cross-Platform Saves

To utilize the new cross-platform save feature, players need to visit the designated cloud portal set up by Hello Games and link their respective accounts. Initially, a limited number of players will have access to test this feature, with broader access expected in the weeks to follow. The supported platforms include PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, GOG, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and PlayStation VR 1 and VR 2, along with various PC VR integrations.

Features on the New PlayStation 5 Pro

Additionally, Hello Games has announced optimized support for the PlayStation 5 Pro. Leveraging the advanced capabilities and upscaling technology of the new console, players can now enjoy 4K resolution at 60 frames per second (fps). For those in search of an even sharper visual experience, an 8K resolution option is available, albeit at 30 fps. Prior to this update, only titles such as Gran Turismo 7 and F1 24 had been confirmed to support 8K resolutions.

N7 Day Celebration: Iconic Ship Returns

As an added bonus, in honor of N7 Day, Hello Games has reintroduced the iconic SSV Normandy SR1 ship from the Mass Effect franchise to No Man’s Sky. Returning players can once again claim this legendary vessel for their fleet over the next two weeks, providing an exciting opportunity for fans who missed their initial chance.
