Understanding the Ending of No Gain No Love: Son Hae-young and Kim Ji-uk’s Journey to Happiness
In Episode 11 of No Gain No Love, the tension escalates when Son Hae-young distances herself from Kim Ji-uk upon discovering that he was her mother Lee Eun-ok’s (played by Yoon Bok-in) final foster child. As Episode 11 concludes, Son Hae-young receives devastating news about her mother’s passing. The final episode opens with Son Hae-young, Cha Hui-seong (played by Joo Min-kyung), Kim Ji-uk, and Nam Ja-yeon preparing for Lee Eun-ok’s funeral. As the finale unfolds, Kim Ji-uk departs the country fulfilling a promise to his half-brother Bok Gyu-hyun. Upon his return months later for a family wedding, Son Hae-young mistakenly believes it is his wedding. On her birthday, she spots him in her neighborhood and offers her congratulations. As they exchange farewells, memories resurface, reminding her of the lighter he gifted her, signifying that she has not forgotten him.
In its concluding moments, Kim Ji-uk expresses that while he enjoys the freedom from promises, he deeply misses Son Hae-young. No Gain No Love wraps up by providing closure for each character, leaving little room for questions, which diminishes the likelihood of a second season, although no official announcement has been made by tvN or Prime Video.
Additionally, a spin-off titled Spice Up Our Love, featuring Han Ji-hyun and Lee Sang-yi, is set to debut on October 3, 2024, on TVING and Prime Video.
