Nintendo has embarked on a unique initiative by teaming up with Universal Studios, allowing hotel guests at Universal Studios Japan to rent Alarmo clocks. This innovative program offers dedicated fans a chance to experience the Alarmo without the commitment of a purchase.
The Alarmo is just one of the latest creative products introduced by Nintendo. Renowned for its legendary video game franchises such as Mario and Zelda, the company continuously pushes the envelope by launching quirky products like Nintendo Labo and innovative accessories like the Wii Fit Board.
Recently, Nintendo announced that this rental service of Alarmo clocks will be available at all seven of Universal Studios Japan’s official hotels. The rental program commenced on February 3, though there has been no communicated end date. Guests can request an Alarmo, complete with an AC adapter, and set it up in their rooms upon check-in. Notably, there are no additional charges associated with this rental service.

The Alarmo has quickly garnered a significant following among enthusiasts. Currently available online exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in the west, its broader retail launch is set for March 2025. In Japan, physical sales were expected to begin in February, but this timeline has been adjusted, leaving fans awaiting further updates.
Though some view the Alarmo as merely a novelty item, it has captured the hearts of many fans. Its integration with Universal Studios Japan naturally complements the vibrant atmosphere of Super Nintendo World, as it encourages visitors to kickstart their Nintendo-themed adventures each morning. While there has been no word on extending this program to Universal’s other parks, speculation suggests that a similar initiative might emerge when Super Nintendo World opens in Universal Studios Orlando in late 2025.
