Nintendo Switch users in Japan should brace for increased repair costs, as Nintendo has announced that prices for most repair parts will rise starting March 26, 2025. This decision comes in response to a significant surge in the costs associated with sourcing spare parts, compelling the company to adjust its pricing structure.

Revised Pricing for Key Components

The comprehensive list of price adjustments is accessible on the Japanese Nintendo support website. To ensure users can reference this information in the future, the previous pricing details have also been archived. Note that all prices are listed in Japanese yen.

Context for Price Adjustments

In recent years, Nintendo has faced substantial challenges in securing spare parts for its consoles. Following the complete cessation of Wii U repairs in July 2024, the company is now depleting its existing inventories for the 3DS and 2DS handheld devices, as it no longer replenishes stock for these models.

Notably, all spare parts for the New 3DS were exhausted by October 2, 2024. As such, outside of the Switch consoles, the only Nintendo units still supported for repairs in Japan are the New 3DS LL/XL, 2DS, and New 2DS LL/XL.

Final Thoughts

The adjustment in repair costs for a majority of Nintendo Switch parts in Japan will officially take effect on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Users should consider these changes when estimating future repair budgets.
