It was seven months ago when the widely used Nintendo Switch emulator, Yuzu, faced removal due to legal action from Nintendo. Today, the remaining heavyweight in the Switch emulation scene, Ryujinx, has seemingly gone offline.
Although an official announcement from gdkchan has yet to surface, a development collaborator known as ‘rip in peri peri’ shared an update via the project’s Discord server. According to the update, the lead developer “was contacted by Nintendo and offered an agreement to cease all work on the project, dismantle the organization, and eliminate all associated assets he’s managing.”
At present, it’s uncertain what specific agreement was proposed to the developer.
“While awaiting confirmation on whether he would accept this agreement, the organization has been taken down, so I believe it’s safe to assume what the outcome is,”the message elaborates. Ryujinx’s social media has shared this update for the community, which can be found below:

Developed using C#, Ryujinx was celebrated as an emulator that delivered “excellent accuracy and performance, a user-friendly interface, and consistent builds.”While it was predominantly aimed at Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms, efforts to create iOS and Android versions were also underway.
“Thank you to everyone who has contributed code, documentation, or reported issues to the project,” rip in peri peri expressed on Discord. “I appreciate everyone for following us throughout development. I learned many fascinating insights about the games I cherish, experiencing them in renewed ways and under unique circumstances, and I’m sure many of you have had similarly memorable experiences.”
Nintendo’s crackdown on emulation appears to be intensifying as a broader trend. Recent reports indicate that even YouTube videos showcasing its retro games being emulated are being removed due to copyright strikes.
