According to a press release from 4Gamer, SEGA, the publisher of the game in Japan, along with Avalanche Software, has shared exciting technical details regarding the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 port of Hogwarts Legacy.
Enhanced Visual Experience
Players can look forward to a more immersive gameplay experience, featuring considerably improved graphics. The port will leverage NVIDIA DLSS technology, enhanced lighting effects, superior shadow animations, and advanced anti-aliasing techniques. The resolution capabilities are quite impressive, with up to 1440p resolution available in TV mode, and 1080p with HDR support in handheld mode.
Smooth Gameplay Mechanics
One of the standout features of the Nintendo Switch 2 version is the seamless transition through expansive environments, including the bustling town of Hogsmeade and its various shops, all without loading screens. This allows for a more fluid gaming experience.
Improved Flight Mechanics
Thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2’s upgraded performance, players will benefit from a higher frame rate compared to the original Switch version. Moreover, shorter loading times mean flying around the majestic grounds of Hogwarts and beyond is now a much more enjoyable endeavor.
Customizable Control Options
The game will also support mouse functionality via the Joy-Con 2 controller, accommodating diverse player preferences and gaming styles.
Technical Capabilities
The Nintendo Switch 2 is equipped to handle NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution, although developers are at liberty to decide whether to implement this feature. Given that titles like Hogwarts Legacy and Cyberpunk 2077 already utilize it on PC, utilizing DLSS for this port seems a practical choice.
Ray Tracing Considerations
While the hardware technically supports ray tracing, there has been no confirmation of its use in this game. This feature is available in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X iterations, along with the PC version. Nonetheless, it is unlikely that demanding open-world games will implement ray tracing on the hybrid console, as it could impose overwhelming stress on the hardware. However, simpler games could still benefit from this visual enhancement.
Launch Details
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Hogwarts Legacy is set to launch alongside the console on June 5, with a game size of 24 GB.
