Before the announcements, we were apprehensive about tariffs affecting pricing. Given that Nintendo sources components from various countries in Asia, we initially feared the price could exceed $500. Therefore, we were quite satisfied to see a price of $450. While we would have preferred $400, we believe $450 is a reasonable market rate.

Unforeseen Challenges Ahead

Yes, I believe that the pricing for Mario Kart World is an outlier in the current market. With various titles releasing at different price points, this may attract attention primarily due to its abundant content. Most players will likely opt for the $500 bundle that includes the Switch 2 and the game, which effectively lowers the game’s cost to $50.

Indeed, while hardware experiences a more direct impact from tariffs, the software industry may also feel the repercussions, especially in terms of discounting strategies.
