This week marked a significant development in the anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2, as a design registration for the console became publicly accessible, featuring various illustrations that provide detailed insights into the highly anticipated gaming system set to launch later this year.

New Design Insights

The design registration, which was identified by a member of the Famiiboards forum known as fwd-bwd, displays multiple perspectives of the upcoming console. These illustrations offer a closer look at the console’s ports and their arrangement at both the top and bottom, the location of the microSD card slot, and even the console’s appearance with the kickstand opened. Another forum member, LiC, suggested that with a screen size of 7.9 inches, the estimated dimensions of the console would be approximately 201 x 115 x 14 mm.

Exciting Developments from Nintendo Direct

Interestingly, while the recent Nintendo Direct presentation was not specifically aimed at announcing features of the Nintendo Switch 2, it still provided intriguing updates. Among these was the revelation of a new Virtual Game Card system designed to enhance the digital game experience from the original console, which will also be compatible with the upcoming Switch 2.

Additionally, the launch of the Nintendo Today app confirmed the introduction of a new button on the upcoming Joy-Con controller, referred to as the “C button.” However, its specific functionality remains to be seen. Fans won’t have to wait long to uncover more details, as a dedicated Nintendo Direct presentation focusing solely on the Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled to take place in just five days, on April 2nd.
