Nintendo has once again captured attention, this time with the recent introduction of a music application named “Nintendo Music,”available on both Android and iOS platforms. This new app is designed exclusively for members of Nintendo Switch Online, as stated by the company.
The Nintendo Music app allows Switch Online subscribers to enjoy a vast collection of nearly four decades of iconic video game music, giving fans an opportunity to immerse themselves in nostalgic sounds. It features tracks from beloved franchises like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Kirby, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Metroid, Splatoon 3, and Donkey Kong Country, among others.
According to the official announcement, users can “stream or download music from Nintendo’s expansive library, create and share custom playlists, and explore different music categories.”It even includes curated playlists. For those currently playing through a game on their Nintendo console and wish to keep certain soundtracks a secret, the app lets users hide tracks to avoid spoilers, ensuring surprising moments remain intact.

If you’re familiar with YouTube Music, you might notice some similar design elements in the Nintendo Music app. It features a mini player attribute, reminiscent of those used in YouTube Music. The interface also incorporates carousel sections and a Library tab that echo the style of YouTube Music.
With the app, users can enjoy uninterrupted game soundtracks for up to 60 minutes or opt to loop their favorite tracks. It also provides an offline listening option. Users have the flexibility to find songs by searching for the game title, track name, playlist title, or by browsing through screenshots.
The app is complimentary for Nintendo Switch Online and Switch Online + Expansion Pack members in both the US and Canada. Memberships start at $3.99 monthly or $19.99 annually. You can download the Nintendo Music app on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
