Nintendo Introduces Virtual Game Cards for Switch
Nintendo recently unveiled an innovative feature known as Virtual Game Cards during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct. This new system is set to revolutionize how players manage their games, enabling seamless transfers between Nintendo Switch devices and simplifying the process of lending titles to family members.
What are Virtual Game Cards?
With the introduction of Virtual Game Cards, owners will have the capability to transfer their digital games from one Nintendo Switch to another. To execute this transfer, users must ensure both devices are connected online and registered locally. Once these steps are completed, players can “eject” their virtual cartridge from one device and transfer it to another for gaming enjoyment. While this process currently restricts players to linking just two devices, there’s an additional option allowing for sharing games among accounts connected through a family group.
