Nintendo’s Live-Action Legend of Zelda Movie Release Delayed

In November 2023, Nintendo excitedly announced plans to adapt one of its most beloved franchises into a live-action film. The upcoming Legend of Zelda movie was initially scheduled to hit theaters on March 26, 2027. However, recent developments have resulted in a slight adjustment to this release timeline.

Earlier today, Shigeru Miyamoto, the president of Nintendo, shared an update via the company’s official X account. He revealed that the release date for the live-action adaptation has been postponed by a few weeks, now targeting May 7, 2027, instead.

This is Miyamoto. Due to production reasons, the worldwide theatrical release date for the live-action movie “The Legend of Zelda” will be changed to May 7, 2027. Although it will be a little later than the timing we had previously announced, we would like to take enough time to make it a good movie. Please give us a little more time.

Miyamoto stated, “For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film for The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it can be. Thank you for your patience.”

Although it’s always valuable to receive updates, especially concerning production timelines, this recent change might not be the news fans were hoping for as they eagerly await the film’s debut. Nonetheless, the delay may indicate Nintendo’s commitment to ensuring a high-quality adaptation of the beloved game series.

What’s Next for the Legend of Zelda Film?

As fans continue to speculate about the project, a prominent question has emerged: who will portray the iconic characters of Link and Zelda? Although no official casting announcements have been confirmed, there are rumors suggesting that Hunter Schafer may be in line to take on the role of Princess Zelda.
