Ninja Gaiden 4 Unveiled: A New Era for the Franchise
In an exciting development for fans of the iconic Ninja Gaiden series, new gameplay footage has surfaced, rejuvenating interest in a franchise that some believed had faded into obscurity. Yesterday, popular YouTuber GamersPrey released an hour-long video featuring gameplay from Ninja Gaiden 4, presented without any commentary, allowing viewers to immerse themselves fully in the action.
Fans had good reason to be concerned about the future of Ninja Gaiden, especially considering that the last title, Ninja Gaiden 3, debuted back in 2012 and received lukewarm responses from critics and players alike. This new installment signals a strong return for the series, rekindling hope among its dedicated fan base.
A Significant Collaboration
Ninja Gaiden 4 marks a notable collaboration between the esteemed Team Ninja and prestigious developer PlatinumGames. Known for their exceptional work on titles such as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and the Bayonetta series, PlatinumGames brings a wealth of experience in action gaming to this new endeavor.
During an interview on the Iron Lords Podcast, Masakazu Hirayama, the game director from Team Ninja, shared insights regarding this ambitious partnership:
Well, for Team Ninja, Ninja Gaiden is a very important IP and title, so we have always wanted to create a new Ninja Gaiden game. Initially, the presidents of our company, Mr. Ono from Team Ninja, and Mr. Inaba from PlatinumGames, who are actually of the same generation and have had ongoing exchanges, discussed whether the two companies could collaborate on something new. Given PlatinumGames’ excellent track record with action games like Nier and Bayonetta, which we respect greatly, we thought it would be a great challenge to work together on a new Ninja Gaiden title. Furthermore, as you mentioned, with support from Phil Spencer at Xbox, the project was able to come together with a three-way collaboration.
Release Information
Ninja Gaiden 4 was officially announced at the Xbox Developer Direct 2025, and it is set to launch on October 21 for multiple platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. Notably, players on PC and Xbox will have the opportunity to access the game on its release date through Game Pass, as it will be published by Xbox Game Studios.
