Castle of the Dragon Chapter 2 Walkthrough – Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

Hayabusa Village – Path to Save Point 1:
As you move forward into the small graveyard area, you’ll encounter the initial wave of enemies — three adept dual-sword ninjas ready for combat. After dispatching them, take a moment to explore the graves, which offer fascinating insights into Hayabusa family lore. Press onwards along the main path until you arrive at a courtyard filled with ferocious blade-wielding dogs. These foes can be challenging; therefore, employ a strategy of blocking and countering their attacks rather than mashing buttons, especially at higher difficulties.

Upon defeating the dogs, turn your attention to the bridge path. At the end lies your first Life of the Gods chest, which, when collected, increases your maximum health — a vital resource for the trials ahead. Before accessing the chest, you will need to confront a mix of basic and claw ninjas. For any necessary healing items, a Shop is conveniently located near the bridge entrance.
Next, veer away from the bridge entrance and navigate around the exterior of the buildings. Just before rounding the corner, you’ll find the Reverse Wind Technique scroll on a deceased ninja. As you emerge from behind the building, five basic ninjas will ambush you; defeat them to advance toward the large flags displaying bullseye-like symbols.

Upon reaching the stairs leading down to the water’s edge, search for a Herb of Spiritual Life lying on a corpse. You can leap directly into the water, prompted to press the A (or X on PlayStation) button to run across it. However, dive under for a chance to secure a Crystal Skull located underneath the left side of the bridge. Beware of an archer aiming at you from the distant ledge once you surface.

Eliminate the archer and continue along the main path. Near the top of the slope, expect another archer alongside two dogs. Post-defeat, you’ll enter a courtyard where the Counter Attack Technique scroll awaits on a lifeless body. In this corner, you’ll also discover the first Dragon Save Point.
Path to Dragon Save Point 2:

From your first save point, ascend the small stairway and navigate to the left of the large structure. Here, several enemies await within the narrow corridor. Beware the archer at the corridor’s end who will persistently pepper you with arrows while you combat the aggressive ninjas. If you veer left on the walkway, you can interact with a door nestled between two dragon statues — known as the Relic Room door.
Note that on your initial playthrough of Chapter 2, the Relic Room will remain unattainable, with a message indicating that “the door to the Relic Room is held firmly shut.“You’ll need to return in a later chapter, specifically Chapter 10, armed with the necessary key.

Although you cannot enter the Relic Room at this time, you can gain access to the opposite building through the back entrance. Here, you’ll find a chest containing a Herb of Spiritual Life, alongside the Falcon’s Talons located at a shrine on the far wall. After collecting the claws, prepare for an ambush as you exit the building.
Once outside, navigate to the outer courtyard where you’ll encounter two basic ninjas and a flame-wielding ninja. These enemies can be particularly troublesome, as they summon flames beneath Ryu’s feet and launch fireballs mid-combat. Prioritize taking them out early in the fray.

Once you’ve dispatched these foes, a gate will unlock, allowing access to the next area. Proceed up the rocky steps, where you’ll face descending ninjas. At the top, two towers await — one occupied by an archer, while the other holds a chest containing another Herb of Spiritual Life.

The subsequent flight of stairs resembles the former, with fresh ninjas eager to fight and another two guard towers featuring archers. Defeating these enemies will lead you to the second Dragon Save Point. It’s advisable to save and heal before pushing onward.
Path to Dragon Save Point 3:

As you traverse the expansive wooden deck, expect to face more archers and basic ninjas. Upon reaching the end, follow the main path to spot a chest on the left side of the next gate. In this chest, blue healing orbs will await to assist you.

Your ascent continues up the castle’s base. At the top of the first stone steps, remain vigilant for archers firing through murder holes. Move swiftly, then advance towards the narrow stone steps. Just before you reach them, collect the Guillotine Throw scroll from a deceased body. To your left, a chest rests at the end of an alcove containing a Devil’s Way Mushroom, which replenishes your Ki.

Upon reaching the rooftop, you’ll immediately confront two claw-wielding ninjas and a flame ninja. Defeat these adversaries and then leap into the flaming hole in the roof to enter the castle interior. Once inside, confront the archers positioned at the murder holes and clear them out, followed by a trek to the corridor’s far end, where the third Dragon Save Point is located.

How to Get the Fiend’s Bane Bow:

From the third Dragon Save Point, progress to the corridor’s opposite end. Before moving on, locate a golden dragon-headed statue on the wall. Approach the head closely to retrieve a bow it holds — the Fiend’s Bane Bow, marking your first ranged weapon in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black.
Inside the Castle of the Dragon – Path to Gyuki:
After acquiring the bow, make your way through the gate to find yourself in a vast arena filled with archers firing from various vantage points. Engaging RT (or R2) locks onto enemies, assisting in your counterattack strategy. Once you eliminate the archers, the mid-level boss Gyuki will dramatically descend from above.
How to Beat Gyuki:

Gyuki’s combat style mirrors that of the Spider Clan boss from Chapter 1. Focus on dodging its strikes and countering from behind to stun Gyuki. Note that certain attacks, such as the Flying Swallow technique, may not prove effective here, so favor ground-based strategies. Utilizing counterattacks presents a viable method for weakening Gyuki.
Feel free to expend your Ninpo as you will regenerate your Ki after the battle. Upon exiting the arena, turn right to discover a chest housing revitalizing Ki-restoring red orbs. Then, backtrack down the corridor, but veer right past the stairs to find Grains of Spiritual Life on a lifeless body. Ascend the stairs to a screen door, ready for a sudden enemy attack as you approach.

After dispatching the enemies, venture to the dead end of the corridor and turn right to attack the screens. You’ll spot Dragon Save Point 4 on your left and supplementary stairs on the right, with an additional ninja lurking behind the screen.
Path to Save Points 5 & 6:

The next save point is conveniently located just ahead. From the fourth save point, ascend the stairs and interact with the screen on your right at the top. Here, a balcony overlooks the boss arena, featuring a large dragon statue at the center. Platforms to the left and right will yield more archers that must be dealt with before the central platform lowers. Cross over as the dragon’s mouth opens, inviting entry.
For health restoration, shoot the glowing orb situated near the dragon’s head; this will generate blue orbs to heal Ryu.

Upon entering through the dragon’s mouth, you’ll find Dragon Save Point 5 at the corridor’s conclusion.
To reach the final save point, exit onto the roof through the newly created hole. Face off against both basic and flame ninjas; defeat them before navigating to the building’s side to reach an upper level. Once atop, return to the castle through the hole in the wall.

Upon your arrival, a barrage of archers will descend upon you. Utilize your newfound bow to swiftly eliminate them; remember to engage RT/R2 to quickly target. After clearing the archers, search for a small hole in the wooden walkway floor, which leads to a lower level containing a shop at one end and the sixth and final Dragon Save Point at the opposite end.
Should you lack healing items, this is the opportune moment to stock up.Grains of Spiritual Life will prove especially useful, as you will face Genshin—the final boss of Chapter 2—who can quickly deplete your health bar, particularly on higher difficulties. These items can fully restore your health, even the red section.
Path to Genshin:
As you approach the climactic end of Chapter 2, return up the ladder to the upper platform and veer right to find a chest containing Lives of the Thousand Gods that enhances your max health. Ascend the stairs and backtrack to locate a deceased body bearing a Life of the Gods orb. Proceed in the opposite direction until reaching the path’s end, triggering an automatic cutscene.
How to Beat Genshin in Ninja Gaiden 2 Black:

The build-up to the Genshin battle can create the illusion of higher difficulty than what is actually presented. Similar to Gyuki, your best strategy here is to remain grounded while effectively dodging and countering to chip away at his health. Utilizing the heavy-attack counter will lead into a follow-up strike before Genshin can recover.
Genshin possesses a potent projectile attack to heed. When energy begins to coalesce into an orb around his fists, quickly prepare to dodge. This brief opportunity allows for a significant counterattack; effectively utilizing Ryu’s block can also aid your survival.
Note that Genshin inflicts substantial damage per hit, so vigilantly monitor your health bar for rapid depletion. This heightened risk means you should not hesitate to employ health items.Ninja Gaiden 2 Black features a player-friendly healing system, pausing the action when in the item menu; therefore, feel free to utilize your items as needed.
If you happen to fall in battle, there’s no requirement to use your Talisman. Simply restart from the nearest checkpoint, conveniently located close to the battle’s conclusion.
