Night 1 and Night 2 match card for WWE WrestleMania 40
This weekend, WWE WrestleMania 40 will be held in Philadelphia and the match lineup for Night 1 and Night 2 has been revealed. Both evenings will showcase exciting matches, with the latter being capped off by the highly anticipated Undisputed WWE Universal Championship bout between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
On the first night of the week, Monday Night RAW will feature a match between Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch. Additionally, Jey Uso (now on RAW) will compete against his brother Jimmy Uso (SmackDown) in a highly anticipated Brother vs. Brother showdown.
On Night 1, SmackDown will have Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair, and Naomi team up to face Damage Control, while Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee from SmackDown will take on Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar.
In the upcoming event, Gunther from RAW will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn. Additionally, a Six-Pack Ladder Match will feature current Undisputed Tag Team Champions Finn Balor and Damian Priest from The Judgment Day facing off against teams such as #DIY, The New Day, Awesome Truth, Grayson Waller & Austin Theory, and New Catch Republic.
As Night 1 draws to a close, the main event will feature a tag team match between Roman Reigns and The Rock against Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. The results of this match will determine the stipulation for Reigns’ match against Rhodes on Night 2.
WWE WrestleMania 40 will carry on with even more thrilling matches on Sunday, including the highly anticipated showdown between SmackDown’s Women’s Champion IYO Sky and Bayley, a chaotic Philadelphia Street Fight between The Pride and Final Testament in a tag team match, and a clash between two SmackDown favorites LA Knight and AJ Styles.
The anticipated Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship, featuring SmackDown’s Logan Paul as the current champion, along with challengers Kevin Owens and Randy Orton, is predicted to be the highlight of the event. Night 2 will conclude with two highly-anticipated matches: Drew McIntyre defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins, followed by a match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
The Rock rejects Seth Rollins’ challenge for a WrestleMania 40 showdown at the final RAW before the event
The last Monday Night RAW before WrestleMania 40 began with a scene showcasing The Rock, Roman Reigns, The Bloodline, and Seth Rollins. During the segment, Rollins issued a challenge to The Rock for the headlining match of the event, but The Great One declined. However, Solo Sikoa stepped in and issued the challenge on behalf of The Rock, which The Architect accepted.
It seems that The Rock may be struggling with an injury, leading the company to take measures to protect him as they approach WWE WrestleMania 40.
Roman Reigns discusses potential retirement after facing Cody Rhodes at WWE WrestleMania 40
As Night 2 of WWE WrestleMania 40 approaches, Roman Reigns is gearing up for an intense showdown with Cody Rhodes. The Universal Champion has hinted that he may consider retirement if he is defeated by The American Nightmare at The Show of Shows.
“You guys better cherish these moments cause once I lose the WWE Undisputed championship, I’m calling it quits,”Reigns said on the latest episode of A&E Biography: WWE Legends.
Similarly, just like their match at WrestleMania 39, Reigns has held the WWE Universal Championship since August 30, 2020 when he faced Rhodes.
Solo Sikoa: A Rising Star and Potential Game-Changer at WWE WrestleMania 40
Although Solo Sikoa is not currently slated to appear at WWE WrestleMania 40, he has a busy week ahead. He is set to compete against Seth Rollins on RAW and will also take on Jey Uso during Friday Night SmackDown.
Sikoa will have the chance to display his potential in this opportunity, as he currently lacks a defined path. Additionally, it may provide him with the opportunity to further involve himself in the ongoing rivalry between Rollins, Rhodes, and Jey Uso against The Rock, Reigns, and Jimmy Uso.
Considering this, it is likely that Solo Sikoa will have a significant impact on both Night 1 and Night 2, as The Bloodline is determined to dominate both matches.
