NieR: Automata – Guide to Finding the Engine Blade Location

In the expansive world of NieR: Automata, players encounter an impressive array of weapons ranging from quirky options like the Iron Pipe to formidable tools of destruction like the Type-40 Blade. While many weapons are unique to the game’s universe, one stands out as a notable homage to the Final Fantasy series: Noctis’ Engine Blade.

This iconic weapon can be discovered during the initial playthrough of NieR: Automata, making it a must-have for enthusiasts of both franchises. Here’s how you can locate it and an overview of its essential statistics.

The Engine Blade can be located within the factory setting, but it won’t be accessible during the game’s opening act. To acquire it, players need to progress to a later point in the story as the character 2B. Alternatively, the Chapter Select feature allows a direct jump to Chapter 9, facilitating a quicker route to obtain the weapon with minimal gameplay.

To begin your quest for the Engine Blade, fast travel to the Factory: Hanger access point. Upon exiting the access point room, proceed right, where a 2D camera perspective will activate. Navigate past a fenced area, ascend some crumbling stairs, and hop onto a moving conveyor belt laden with boxes.

The next section involves traversing another conveyor belt filled with pressing machines—be cautious, as getting caught underneath could result in instant defeat. Once you cross, leap onto the following cylinder where you’ll encounter two spider-like adversaries.

Next, take the door to the left of your entry point and continue ascending stairs while dodging explosive enemies descending towards you. Midway, there will be a point where the railing ceases, extending the platform outward. Walk toward the camera to switch perspectives, leading into a platforming section where you’ll jump atop the presses, following the path on the left.

At the end of this path lies a chamber containing three chests. The leftmost chest holds the coveted Engine Blade, while a locked chest resides on the right. Caution is advised, as more explosive foes will appear from above as you approach.
