In 2020, Minaj embraced motherhood with the birth of her first child alongside her husband, Kenneth Petty. On an episode of Queen Radio in 2019, she discussed her weight loss journey, emphasizing her newfound control over her life:

“[I] channeled all of my power and now I have control of it. I control how it manifests in my life.”

Minaj Discusses Her Weight Loss Journey on Queen Radio

During her 2019 Queen Radio episode, Nicki recalled that year as one of her “favorite years,”marking a significant transformation in her weight and mindset. Speaking to her fans, she expressed how she harnessed her inner strength to achieve her goals.

One of the first things Minaj did was revamp her diet. She admitted:

“I was trying to do this diet and I kept putting it off. I didn’t think I could have discipline in what I ate… Once my mind was committed to it, my body committed to it.”

At that point, Minaj had 20 pounds remaining to shed to reach her desired weight but celebrated the progress she had made. Emphasizing self-love, she reflected on the importance of being gentle with oneself, stating that “being kind to yourself”was a central theme for her in 2019.

She pondered the complexities of achieving personal motivation while accepting one’s imperfections. A significant breakthrough for her was understanding that “nothing and no one is perfect.”

Minaj elaborated on the challenges women face regarding body acceptance. She shared:

“One time I was thinking… what if one of my best friends said the things that I say to myself? The people who love you don’t talk to you like that, don’t treat you like that, don’t say things like that to make you feel pain, but we do that to ourselves. Women, we do that to ourselves all the time over our bodies.”

Nicki Minaj Admits to Disliking Exercise

During a Q&A session on X in July 2013 for her Marie Claire cover, when asked about her exercise regime, Nicki Minaj candidly stated that she has no workout regimen, saying:

“I don’t work out. I hate it. I don’t mean to sound super lazy… I tried it for a time. I lost my b***s.”

Minaj remarked that working out adversely impacted her body and that she relied primarily on her diet for maintaining her shape. She explained,

“When I feel I need to lose weight, I just change what I eat. I cut out carbs and sugar. I’ll do water and protein and fruit.”

Nevertheless, while she personally believes exercise isn’t her thing, Minaj encourages her fans to stay active, asserting, “But I do think that you should work out.”She admitted that dancing is her favorite form of cardiovascular activity.

Currently, Nicki Minaj is on her fourth headlining tour—the Pink Friday 2 world tour—with the final show scheduled for October 11 in Elmont, New York.
