Nicki Minaj Responds to Criticism Over Son’s Birthday Celebrations Focused on Husband Kenneth Petty: “Obsessed, Ugly, and Low IQ”

Nicki Minaj has recently responded to criticism from a fan who accused her of using her son’s birthday celebration to defend her husband, Kenneth Petty. The rapper celebrated her four-year-old son, Papa Bear’s, birthday this past week and shared photos from the festive occasion on social media on October 1.

Among the images, Minaj showcased a snapshot of herself with her husband, Kenneth Petty, at an indoor playground. In her caption, she expressed:

“They used to be giving yall the #fakenews so loud & proud I thought a brain vessel was gon pop. You’d have to have a brain for that tho.”

In a subsequent post, Nicki Minaj stated:

“I let them run wit a #fakenews drag for years just so I could get this GOOD GOOD laugh. I’m a diff type a heaux. PETTY.”

This post prompted fans to interpret that Minaj added the picture with Petty to defend him amid allegations regarding his past. Kenneth Petty is reportedly prohibited from entering children’s play areas due to his past conviction as a s*x offender. A netizen responded:

“Only you could make your child’s birthday about a man.”

In response, Nicki Minaj quoted the user’s post on X and provided a lengthy rebuttal, strongly denying the claims that she centered her son’s birthday around her husband.

The NYC rapper labeled the commenter a “weak loser”for discussing someone else’s birthday while asserting that they lacked better things to occupy their time.

“There are 24 hours in one’s birthday. So you have no idea what anyone’s birthday was like through a photo on social media. That’s why yall were saying couple goals about a lot of those Instagram relationships & ended up looking dumb. Well, y’all BEEN looking dumb chi. The mirror told y’all that way before I could’ve,”she remarked.

“A photo takes one second to take & another second to post. That leaves over 23 hours. So again… making someone’s birthday about something that took one second?”

Nicki Minaj also accused the individual of being obsessed with her and having a low IQ.

“Nothing in the tweet has to do with ANYONE’S birthday. So ummmmm how’d you know? Oh right. OBSESSED WITH ONIKA!!!!! DING 🛎️ DING 🛎️ DING 🛎️. Obsessed, ugly AND a VERY low IQ. They always check the same boxes,”she tweeted.

Minaj continued to criticize the individual for attempting to undermine her and for harboring resentment towards her. She elaborated on her perspective in a follow-up post, which also included updates about her latest tour.

In her defense of Kenneth Petty, she emphasized that he is the father of her son, Papa Bear, and that he is her husband, thus deserving her protection. Minaj articulated her right to stand up for her husband as a self-made woman and an immigrant.

On October 1, Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to upload images of her son, Papa Bear, celebrating his fourth birthday. The rapper shared a series of videos and pictures of her son alongside herself and her husband.

“Dear #PapaBear, Happy 4th birthday, buddy. You’ve made mama & daddy so happy. Since you were in mama’s tummy, you gave me a whole new meaning to life. Hope. May God watch over you always & guide your path. No weapon formed against you will prosper. In Jesus name we pray. Amen,”the caption read.

Her post featured a video of Papa Bear emerging from the elevator with his father while glancing back at his mother. Other images displayed him as a toddler in the arms of both Petty and Minaj.

During a February 2022 appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Nicki Minaj reflected on how becoming a mother transformed her life.

“I think motherhood has made me see more good in people, more good in the universe. When I look at my son, I’m reminded that I am so blessed. I realized, for so many women, this is their dream. Their dream is to have a child and not everybody gets that blessing. So when you have a little baby, you are reminded every day like, ‘Oh my God. Thank you God for this little gift,’”she remarked.

According to PEOPLE, Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty first crossed paths during high school. After losing contact for several years, the couple reconnected in 2018, got married in 2019, and welcomed their son, Papa Bear, in 2020.
