The Traitors is a widely acclaimed American reality series inspired by the Dutch format De Verraders, boasting over 30 adaptations currently in production around the globe. On the September 25th episode of their podcast, New Heights, former NFL stars Jason and Travis Kelce discussed their thoughts on the reality series.
Jason Kelce, who formerly played as a center for the Philadelphia Eagles, and his brother Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, shared their insights on what their chances would be like if they participated in The Traitors. Travis humorously stated that Jason “would f***ing crush it on Traitors.”
In response, Jason recounted a past attempt at the game with friends while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, admitting he did poorly and struggled with deception. When Travis suggested that this could work to Jason’s advantage, Jason remained skeptical.
“But I’m not savvy enough. We did it one time, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. I was voted… right away they knew. They’re like, ‘Jason’s a traitor,’ and I was like, ‘No I’m not!’”
Kelce Brothers Would Be a Dynamic Duo on The Traitors
Travis mentioned that he found the confrontations at the round table hilarious. In The Traitors, contestants—over 20 in total—compete for a prize of $250,000, split into the Traitors and Faithful teams. During the round table, the Faithful attempt to identify and vote out the Traitors.
Travis expressed his enjoyment in seeing how contestants react under pressure, noting the psychology of the game, while Jason indicated he was “taking notes.”Travis later added that he would prefer to play as a Faithful, to which Jason humorously remarked about Travis’ upcoming role in the FX series Grotesquerie, quipping that Travis would excel in either role:
“If you can be a lead actor in an FX original series,”quipped Jason.
Travis laughed off the comment, stating that calling his role a lead actor was a “f***ing stretch.”Grotesquerie is a horror drama series created by Ryan Murphy, known for other hits like Glee and American Horror Stories.
The Traitors Ends RuPaul’s 8-Year Emmy Reign
In September, Scottish actor Alan Cumming won the Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for his role in hosting The Traitors. This marked the end of RuPaul’s eight-year Emmy-winning streak, as he was also nominated for RuPaul’s Drag Race alongside notable hosts like Jeff Probst from Survivor and Kristen Kish from Top Chef. Cumming was unable to attend the Creative Arts Emmy Awards to collect his first Emmy award.
The American adaptation of The Traitors has aired two successful seasons, with Cirie Fields winning the inaugural season by defeating Brandi Glanville. Chris “CT”Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella shared the second season’s prize money of $208,100. Peacock has confirmed that filming for the third season is currently in progress.
